Luckily, the class of 2025 is a loaded year for quarterbacks, with guys all across the state having some serious college upside. As the season fast approaches, we highlight the top 5 preseason quarterbacks worth taking a look at. There is no doubt that a lot of new names will emerge and previously ranked prospects will see their stock rise.
At 6’5″ 190, Kamario Taylor Kamario Taylor 6’4″ | 180 lbs | QB Noxubee County | 2025 State MS has prototypical size for the position. The junior took Noxubee County all the way to the state title game this past year and will look to replicate his success this season. Taylor is a pocket passer with the ability to move his feet well and reset the pocket. With his big arm, Taylor can rip the ball to all levels of the field accurately and at a high level. He looks to have complete command of the offense and shows the ability to make multi-level reads. Taylor has an excellent deep ball that not a lot of young quarterbacks have in their skill set. Although his recruitment has begun to pick up, watch for Taylor to garner even more attention throughout his junior campaign.
The Booneville junior turned a lot of heads during his sophomore year and will look to build on his accomplishments this season. Noah Gillon Noah Gillon 6’3″ | 180 lbs | QB Booneville | 2025 State MS stands at 6’3″ 180 and has some of the most athleticism in the quarterback class. Gillon is a perfect fit in a modern day spread offense. His ability to operate off of play action and make improvisation-style plays in the pass game is what is sought after in this day and age. Gillon has a lot of twitch to him, allowing him to make some really impressive off platform throws. When he stands in the pocket, Gillon throws with great accuracy downfield. Really excited to see what this guy can make out of his 2023 season; sky is the limit for a talent like this.
The MAIS star was one of the most productive players in the league last season, totaling over 3,000 combined yards between the air and ground. Coleman Carter Coleman Carter 6’2″ | 180 lbs | QB Adams County Christian | 2025 State MS played his first game this past Friday and lit it up. The junior has a unique skill set as both a designed runner and passer from the pocket. As a runner, Carter has good speed and burst in the open field and can make defenders miss. He has a stocky build that helps him bulldoze through defenders and pick up tough to earn extra yardage. As a passer, Carter has an impressive deep ball and can throw on the run well. He has good touch and knows how to control and manipulate the velocity of the football. Don’t be surprised if Carter begins to add some college attention this season – this guy can flat out play.

A new move in to Holmes County, Garrison Davis Garrison Davis 5’11” | 190 lbs | QB Holmes County Central | 2025 State MS spent his last season at Ridgeland High School in a big time passing offense. While at Ridgeland, Davis put up a great year of tape as a passer. The 5’11” 170 quarterback has plenty of time left to fill out, but operates in the pocket at a high level despite so called “height concerns.” Davis is an accurate thrower who can go through his reads while climbing the pocket with a rush in his face. His composure on the field is very strong, an attribute that he will only benefit from even more as he gets older. Mechanically, Davis is very sound and throws an effortless football. Although he will be dramatically changing in his offensive system this season, it will be exciting to see what Davis can do. Expecting this guy to add some college looks as the year goes on.

A major riser in recruiting circles this past summer, Cleveland Central’s Jay Beamon Jay Beamon 6’3″ | 205 lbs | QB Cleveland Central | 2025 State MS has some of the most natural arm talent in the entire class. Beamon can flick his wrist and throw the ball with a ton of zip downfield. This is the type of athlete that was born to play the position. Beamon is also smooth with his lower base, easily stepping into throws and not losing a ton of power by wasting his hips and feet. Beamon has solid athleticism outside of the pocket, but does his best work working in it. He does not get phased by a rush in his face and can maintain his confidence throughout any given game. Watch for this guy to rise his way up the rankings in due time, expecting a monstrous junior campaign from Beamon.
