Get 30% off your first billing cycle with code: OscarGalindo30 in the coupon code area.

The Bellevue West Thunderbirds have been hard at work the past week as they get ready for their Week 0 matchup against Creighton Prep. I was able to attend their practice to check out this star-studded squad and see what they've been cooking up. I got a preseason peak at Husker-bound trio [player_tooltip player_id='169899' first='Daniel' last='Kaelin'], Dae'vonn Hall, and [player_tooltip player_id='250689' first='Isaiah' last='McMorris'], as well as rising seniors in [player_tooltip player_id='250686' first='Asher' last='Jenkins'], [player_tooltip player_id='788938' first='Chris' last='Lawson'], and [player_tooltip player_id='561425' first='CJ' last='Gauff'] and bright youngsters in [player_tooltip player_id='284046' first='Araf' last='Evans'] Jr, [player_tooltip player_id='402156' first='Kaprice' last='Keith'], [player_tooltip player_id='612402' first='Jermaine' last='Green']e, and several others.

Check out my quick notes and takeaways from Monday's practice.

- Danny is dialed in. That was one of my most glaring takeaways from today's practice. Recruitment stuff is way in the rear-view and it seems like that's put Kaelin into hyper-focus. He's processing quickly, throwing accurately, and just plain looks more poised and confident.

2024 Husker Commit [player_tooltip player_id='169899' first='Daniel' last='Kaelin']

- The WR senior trio is insanely talented. The big names in Dae'vonn Hall and [player_tooltip player_id='250689' first='Isaiah' last='McMorris'] were explosive and sharp, as they always are. [player_tooltip player_id='245871' first='Ben' last='Goodwater'] is a player that I think is going to have a great season. He has great hands and runs crisp routes. He should benefit from extra attention to Hall and McMorris.

2024 Husker Commit Dae'Vonn Hall

- Two players on the defensive line that had a great day were senior [player_tooltip player_id='788938' first='Chris' last='Lawson'] and junior Pono Dudoit. Chris did a great job disrupting the run game and providing pocket pressure from the defensive tackle spot. His strength really popped— moving players at will and forcing his way into the backfield. Pono plays more of a stand-up edge rusher role at the line of scrimmage. Quick twitch player who is also very strong. Great edge presence as he showed that he can shut down outside lanes. Breakout junior candidate!

2024 DL [player_tooltip player_id='788938' first='Chris' last='Lawson']

2025 EDGE Pono Dudoit

- Bellevue West's 2026 class is going to be SPECIAL!!!! The safety tandem of [player_tooltip player_id='402156' first='Kaprice' last='Keith'] and [player_tooltip player_id='487570' first='Araf' last='Evans Jr.'] could end the season as one of the best in Class A. Very smart players with great instincts, technique, and athleticism. [player_tooltip player_id='612402' first='Jermaine' last='Green']e is going to shock some people at receiver. Top-tier speed that can stretch defenses vertically. [player_tooltip player_id='488111' first='Nate' last='Treat'], [player_tooltip player_id='488227' first='Adrian' last='Wilson'], [player_tooltip player_id='487557' first='Will' last='Anderson'], Presha Allen are all sophomores that will develop into great prospects in the upcoming years.

2026 S [player_tooltip player_id='487570' first='Araf' last='Evans Jr.']

2026 S [player_tooltip player_id='402156' first='Kaprice' last='Keith']

- The RB duo of [player_tooltip player_id='561425' first='CJ' last='Gauff'] and [player_tooltip player_id='250681' first='Charlie' last='Gewinner'] is going to create problems for defenses. Both backs run the ball very well and are very twitchy, fast, and can find lanes with ease. However, what makes them stand out over other duos is that they can both catch the ball very well. Charlie can run routes like a receiver and CJ is an excellent target out of the backfield that can do damage in open space. CJ ended with a few more reps, but from what I saw, both backs got split meaningful reps

2024 RB [player_tooltip player_id='561425' first='CJ' last='Gauff']

- Bold prediction: [player_tooltip player_id='250686' first='Asher' last='Jenkins'] will lead the team in tackles. He's the returning leader for now but I think he'll have a breakout season. He's moving down in the box to play linebacker but could still be used as a safety in certain packages. High IQ player that reacts to the ball very well and has sideline-to-sideline range. Bolder prediction: Asher ends top 8 in tackles for Class A.

2024 LB/ATH [player_tooltip player_id='250686' first='Asher' last='Jenkins']

Make sure to follow @PrepRedzoneNE on Twitter and Instagram to stay up to date with all your Nebraska prep recruiting news.
