Continue ReadingHard to imagine there are 40 better junior quarterback prospects than Dallas’s Brady Zapoticky Brady Zapoticky 6’1″ | 185 lbs | QB Dallas | 2025 State PA , especially after plugging in the Abington Heights highlight tape. The junior passer was keying his open man downfield all night, while practically handing the ball off to his receivers 40+ yards downfield. With receivers running free left and right, all Zapoticky had to do was drop back, give a slight hitch and put some air on a ball to rack up yards against this AH secondary. The scores and bulk of yards came through this scenario, yet Zapoticky still shows some in-rhythm ability, hitting hitches and outs on time. Zapoticky took a QB sweep in from about ten to add to his productive Friday night. Good performance.
Pen Argyl’s Brad Rissmiller Brad Rissmiller 6’1″ | 170 lbs | ATH Pen Argyl | 2024 State PA had himself a game, outpacing his rank by a wide margin. According to reports, Brad Rissmiller Brad Rissmiller 6’1″ | 170 lbs | ATH Pen Argyl | 2024 State PA completed all six of his passes for 180 yards. Tack on 50+ on the ground and two scores to boot, you’ve got yourself a real chance of moving up our ranks. There aren’t 105 prospects putting forth that kind of production week-in and week-out. If Rissmiller can put up these numbers on a consistent basis, he’ll climb the list. No tape to watch, however.
Don’t care what kind of competition you’re playing against, to be honest. Seven passing touchdowns in a dominant showing against Wilmington Area HS is worth mentioning, especially if you’re a passer ranked outside the top 45 among your classmates. That’s Caullin Summers Caullin Summers 6’0″ | 165 lbs | QB Sharpsville | 2024 State PA , who tore through an almost non-existent secondary. Summers took advantage of an undisciplined defense that bit on double-moves, pump-fakes, and mesh hand-offs in the backfield. Hitting open targets downfield and racking up yards is one thing, but flashing serious torque on balls while sprinting out is another. Summers ripped a couple of passes that he had no business trying to complete. Yet the senior did just that. Check out his 2-minute Week Zero tape below.
Former camp standout, now cashing in on what was a promising off-season. Avon Grove’s Harrison Watson Harrison Watson 5’6″ | 165 lbs | RB Avon Grove | 2024 State PA took 18 handoffs and averaged almost ten yards a pop on each. Two scores can be added to his stat line too. Runs off tackle when working in the backfield in Gun formations, most of his yardage came out of this look. Watson ripped off a couple of big runs, two that went for 30+ yards. Love the consistent balance and toughness the kid runs with. You can expect the same tempo and energy with each passing rep when watching his tape. Watson runs like he’s got something to prove. He’s got my attention.
Chartiers Valley couldn’t hold back South Fayette’s Matt Boyce Matt Boyce 6’0″ | 230 lbs | LB South Fayette | 2024 State PA . Connected with the quarterback a whopping six times, four of those registering as sacks. Matt Boyce Matt Boyce 6’0″ | 230 lbs | LB South Fayette | 2024 State PA ‘s first two sacks of the 2023 season came from his EDGE position. Hand in the dirt, unblocked off the edge, CV attempted to move the QBs launch point and get the ball out quick, yet good pursuit angles and a revving motor had Matt Boyce Matt Boyce 6’0″ | 230 lbs | LB South Fayette | 2024 State PA in the for sacks early and often. Another sack came after a timely stunt that had Boyce fill in inside. Whoever winds up matching up with SF this coming week better account for Boyce off the edge, he can wreck a game.
Highlights
Tape like this shows the flaw in McCracken’s ranking. McCracken the quarterback chewed up the intermediate/short areas of the field, taking whatever Red Lion gave him. Love his decisiveness, catching the snap, reading his key defender, and firing off a catchable ball, all done with confidence. This is a senior who’s seasoned enough to run the offense the way it’s supposed to be run. Plenty of hitches, slants, swings, curls hit promptly, accurately too. As much as I love splash plays, I love seeing a quarterback do the easy things well. That being said, McCracken also took some quarterback keepers to the house while also accumulating substantial yards on the ground throughout the game. Throw in quality reps from his linebacker position too. Complete, all-around performance put on by the senior leader.
I was told to watch out for this freshman out of Waynesburg Central HS. He might be the first WC kid ranked on our site in its history. He’s on the right path after watching his first reps on tape. 6’3, 180 as a freshman, first reps shows off the kid’s ability to come down with difficult catches. A one-handed grab proves the kid has great hand-eye coordination, he isn’t just a big body out there. He towered for a score in the first, his QB giving him a chance in the endzone where Ricciuti easily came down with a catch over a much smaller defender. Love the start of the young man’s career.
A shame there’s no tape out of Greater Nanticoke’s Zack Fox Zack Fox 5’10” | 160 lbs | RB Greater Nanticoke | 2024 State PA after his ridiculous performance this past weekend. A self-tweet has Fox rushing for 250 yards, three touchdowns on just 14 carries. Absurd numbers from a senior back whose tape I can’t wait to dissect. A prospect producing like this shouldn’t be in the 700s. I’ll have to wait to see more next week.
