Harris flashed his elite playmaking skillset totaling 9 catches for 185 yards and 2 TDs in the 63-42 win over Corner Canyon. He’s a highly advanced route-runner that understands how to create separation at every level of the defense and can take the top off the defense with explosive speed. The Arizona-commit looks to be the top target for QB Micah Alejado Micah Alejado 5'10" | 160 lbs | QB Bishop Gorman | 2024 State NV this season and holds potential to be Nevada’s leading receiver in 2023.
The Gaels battled back from a halftime deficit to score 42 in the second half vs. Corner Canyon (Draper, UT). The Michigan-commit showed why he’s the top RB in the state with an extremely productive and efficient 232 yards and 3 TDs on just 12 carries, including runs of 71 and 44. Ka’apana is a top candidate to lead Nevada in rushing this season despite sharing the backfield with fellow D-I commit DeVon Rice. The Gaels head to Beaverton, Oregon to face Long Beach Poly on Friday.
Plotnikov flashed his dual-threat abilities in the 41-20 victory over King/Drew (LA) passing for 246 yards and 5 TDs and rushing 5 times for another 100. Palo Verde’s junior RB Bryant Johnson rushed 13 times for 97 yards and a TD in a close 24-21 loss to Faith Lutheran. Johnson’s a dynamic runner that can make defenders miss at the LOS and hit another gear at the second level. Johnson’s an exciting 2025 playmaker to keep an eye on this season.
Highlights
Estes caught 7 passes for 111 yards and 2 TDs in Douglas’ 40-0 shutout over Argonaut (CA). He showed significant growth from last season both as an athlete and in his receiving skillset and should be a major stock-riser in 2023. Estes, who also had 5 tackles and 1 TFL from his OLB spot, offers serious upside in his natural length and athleticism at 6’5″/195. Senior teammate Connor Jackson Connor Jackson 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB Douglas | 2024 State NV posted 100+ yards and 4 TDs on the ground for Douglas.
Cannon rushed for 223 yards and 3 TDs on 16 carries as Shadow Ridge beat Legacy 35-19. He’s a tough, physical runner between the tackles that can bounce off defenders and get downhill with power. Cannon will look to carry over the momentum when Shadow Ridge heads to Spanish Springs this Friday.
Alejado was highly efficient in Bishop Gorman’s 63-42 win over Corner Canyon (Draper, UT) completing 14 of 17 passes for 224 yards and 3 TDs. Silverado’s dynamic playmaker rushed for 75 yards and 2 TDs and added a receiving TD. Council’s a versatile athlete that’ll be a key player on both sides of the ball for Silverado this season.
