I have identified several prospects who showed flashes of dominance as sophomores. Below, I explain why these specific prospects are set to be coveted 2025 recruits before their junior seasons have ended.
De’Reel Beverly
De’Reel Beverly
De’Reel Beverly is a versatile edge defender for Democracy Prep. It is surprising to see the good-sized pass rusher not receive any attention from schools west of the Rockies. Expect for De’Reel to be a high-rising pass rusher before 2024 gets here.
De’Reel shows a good combination of next level size and strength setting the edge in the run game and disrupting outside runs before they have a chance to develop. De’Reel’s closing speed gets displayed chasing down scrambling QBs and also pursuing ball carriers in the run game. De’Reel’s length, get off, and fast hands highlight his potential to develop into a collegiate speed rusher.
Gerald Rock Gerald Rock 6’1″ | 250 lbs | OL Shadow Ridge | 2025 NV is a two-way prospect out of Shadow Ridge High School. There is still time to develop into a center, but I believe Gerald has already shown potential to play defensive end at the next level. Expect defensive recruiters in the region to keep a close eye on Gerald this fall.
Gerald displays next level power bulldozing bigger linemen en route to blocking extra points. Gerald displays good strength holding his spot at the point of attack and good athleticism changing direction before tackling ball carriers in his vicinity. Good quickness and acceleration shown beating interior linemen as a speed rusher highlight Gerald’s pass rush versatility at the next level.
Ty’Juan Warren-Thomas
Ty’Juan Warren-Thomas
Ty’Juan Warren-Thomas is set to be one of Las Vegas’ biggest breakout pass rushers. The Legacy defender attended a team camp at Boise State this summer. Ty’Juan is set to light up the stat sheet this fall, and I would expect recruiters from all over the west coast to have him shooting up their pass rusher ranks as a result.
Ty’Juan shows good instincts and a fluid change of direction redirecting to tackle quarterbacks for a loss when he is left unblocked in zone read plays. Coaches love Ty’Juan’s rare combination of length, strength, acceleration, and lateral quickness that gets displayed pressuring quarterbacks with speed rushes off the edge. Flashes of next level power and active hands highlight Ty’Juan’s potential to be a versatile pass rusher at the next level.
Alema Iosua Alema Iosua 6’7″ | 290 lbs | OL Bishop Gorman | 2025 State NV is set to be a fixture on Nevada recruiters’ radars after moving to Las Vegas this year. Alema is a great-sized interior offensive line prospect who already holds offers from Hawaii, Washington, Arizona, and USF. Despite several talented players on Bishop Gorman’s OL, watch for Alema to make an impact for the Gaels early on in the trenches this fall.
Alema’s size, good patience, and athletic change of direction give him the ability to play guard or tackle at the next level. Alema shows quick feet, a strong latch, and a solid anchor mirroring speed rushers in pass protection. Good football IQ gets displayed picking up blitzing linebackers as a run blocker. Alema shows next level power and consistent effort in his finish when drive blocking defenders in the run game.
Eliah Logo Eliah Logo 6’1″ | 295 lbs | DL Liberty | 2025 State NV is another transfer who moves to Las Vegas from Louisiana. The talented defensive tackle is set to shake up Friday nights and be a force for Liberty’s defense. Eliah holds offers from Utah Tech, UT-Chattanooga, Hawaii, and UNLV. Watch for Eliah to receive more west coast offers and become a coveted defensive tackle recruit before his junior season ends.
Eliah’s power gets displayed knocking back blockers in the run game, while next level range allows him to shed blockers on runs designed to hit outside his vicinity and make plays in the backfield. Eliah’s good instincts get displayed finding running backs’ point of entry in zone runs and quickly identifying screens as a pass rusher. Eliah’s fast hands, closing speed, and lateral quickness highlight his ability to create pressure with speed as well as power from the inside.
