Wheeling University held its Friday Night Lights Camp yesterday evening and the talent was in full force. Over 125 athletes made their way to the beautiful Highlands Sports Complex indoor facility to compete and earn an offer from the Cardinals. There were many standout performers and good-looking athletes on display. Here were some of the best receivers I saw at Friday's camp.

Sabron Felton - Steubenville (OH) | 2024

You know the Steubenville Big Red are loaded when one of the best receivers I've seen during camp season didn't see a lot of action last season. 2024 WR Sabron Felton was one of the first players I took notice of at Wheeling University's camp on Friday and he certainly looks the part from a physical standpoint. Felton measured in at a lengthy 6'3 188 and can easily pack some more weight on his long frame. He had some of the best testing numbers at camp regardless of position which was impressive given how tall he is. Felton ripped off a blazing 4.56 40-yard dash and one of the best shuttle times of the day at 4.22 seconds. He also was explosive in the broad jump scoring over 3 yards. Sabron Felton may not have had much production as a junior but there's no doubt he will in 2023.

[player_tooltip player_id='880804' first='Keohn' last='Stephens Jr'] - Wheeling Park | 2024

Wheeling Park's [player_tooltip player_id='880804' first='Keohn' last='Stephens Jr'] was a prospect I've written about before in my Ohio County Spotlight series and I finally had the chance to see him live at camp. He made the Wheeling U coaches take notice right away ripping off a 4.5 40, 3.2-yard broad jump, and a 4.31 shuttle time. That kind of athleticism is going to get you noticed at any level and it was enough to earn Stephens Jr an offer from the host Wheeling University. He's a fluid athlete and can move with the best of them. Stephens Jr measured in at 5'11 154 so he'll need to put on some more weight for the next level but he has the frame to do so. After losing a couple of talented receivers in the Wheeling Park WR corp, I'm expecting him to have a big senior season for the Patriots.

Dimario White - John Marshall | 2024

Dimario White of John Marshall was another athlete I covered in my County Spotlight Series and I have seen him play multiple times but this was the first time seeing him in a camp setting. White is a smaller slot type of receiver at 5'7 150 but he can really move and is very agile. His 4.65 40 time isn't bad at all but his 4.37 shuttle and 3-yard broad jump tells you how explosive he can be. White moves well in short spaces and is fluid when changing direction. John Marshall had some offensive struggles last season with learning a new system so White was flying under the radar a bit but after his performance at Friday's camp, he now holds his first D2 offer from the Wheeling Cardinals. I expect him to have a much bigger senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1264001' first='Jordan' last='Wheeler'] - Westerville South (OH) | 2024

You could have put 2024 Westerville South (OH) athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1264001' first='Jordan' last='Wheeler'] in the receivers or defensive backs article but I put him in the receiver article and he is very good at both. He didn't get measured or weighed but put up some very good testing numbers and some of the best at camp. Wheeler was moving in the 40 to the tune of 4.4 fast and had probably the best shuttle time of the day at 4.08 seconds. He was also explosive in the broad jump leaping 3.2 yards and with numbers like those he's in elite athleticism territory. As I said before, he could play on either side of the ball at the next level but when watching his receiver highlights I think you have to keep him at receiver for his playmaking ability. The 4.4 speed is very apparent in his highlights and he's a threat to score any time he touches the ball. He's only posted one D2 offer to date so I'm not sure why he's under the radar right now but I would expect that number to increase very soon.

Daniel Cain - USO (PA) | 2024

USO (PA) WR Daniel Cain already had an offer from the Wheeling Cardinals before entering camp but he still made his way to Triadelphia to get some work in and he looked the part. He also didn't measure in but had some very impressive testing numbers and you could see why the Cardinals like him so much. Cain fired off a 4.57 40 and 4.28 shuttle time while jumping 3 yards in the broad jump. From watching his film you can tell he's on the smaller side but man is he explosive. His release off the line is as quick as I've seen and he can get up to full speed in an instant. Cain is also very agile and has the twitch and shiftiness to make defenders miss and create those big chunk plays. He is exciting to watch and if he was a little bigger there's no doubt he'd be a D1 prospect.

Specialists:

Cameron Carvaines - Tallmadge (OH) | 2024 | Kicker

The best placekicker I saw at Wheeling University's FNL Camp was 2024 Tallmadge (OH) kicker Cameron Carvaines. He has a big leg and really drove the ball with height on kickoffs. Carvaines looked by far like the best placekicker at camp and worthy of an offer in my opinion. He earned himself some accolades last season earning Ohio DIII First Team All-District and Honorable Mention All-State. Carvaines is rated as a 3 1/2 star by reputable Kohl's and can easily hit from beyond 50 yards on field goals. He was 4/5 on field goals last season and made 51 PATs. If your team needs a kicker in this class, Tallmadge's Cameron Carvaines is worthy of checking out.

Jacob Meager - St. Clairsville (OH) | 2024 | Punter

The best punter I saw at Friday's camp was 2024 St. Clairsville (OH) specialist Jacob Meager. The change of venue to the Highlands Sports Complex indoor facility was a blessing and a curse for Meager. He got to show off how big of a leg he had but it was so powerful that he hit it off the ceiling 90% of the time. The ceiling there is actually pretty tall and he was easily hitting it consistently. I would love to see him punt in an outdoor setting where he doesn't have to worry about that but you could tell his leg has some serious pop regardless. Meager is definitely a specialist name to know in the 2024 class.

George Gabriel - Cardinal Mooney (OH) | 2024 | Long Snapper

The long snapper position often doesn't get any love and if you hear their name it's usually not for good reasons but I wanted to show some props to 2024 Cardinal Mooney LS George Gabriel. I'm certainly not a long-snapper expert but Gabriel looked the part both physically and skill-wise. He measured in at 6'0.5 and 226 pounds so he has the size to be able to withstand the college level. His 5.21 40 wasn't bad so he can run down and cover punts for you and also jumped 3 yards in the broad jump. Gabriel is ranked as a 4-star long snapper by Rubio and is receiving some smaller college attention right now.
