Over 125 athletes made their way to the beautiful Highlands Sports Complex indoor facility to compete and earn an offer from the Cardinals. There were many standout performers and good-looking athletes on display. Here were some of the best running backs and linebackers I saw at Friday’s camp.
Running Backs:
Corey Lyons Corey Lyons 5'9" | 190 lbs | RB Weir | 2024 State WV – Weir | 2024
Corey Lyons Corey Lyons 5'9" | 190 lbs | RB Weir | 2024 State WV of Weir High School was the very first athlete I wrote about when I joined Prep Redzone back in April and this was the first time I got to see him in person. Lyons has had a very productive high school career thus far but I always wondered how well he would test. Well, my question was answered in a big way and Lyons put up some very good numbers at Wheeling University’s FNL Camp this past Friday. He measured in at a solid 5’8 190 and looked good from a physical standpoint. Lyons had a very good 40 time of 4.6, jumped 3 yards in the broad jump, and ran the shuttle in 4.49 seconds. He has already picked up a couple of D3 offers but after Friday’s camp performance, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some D2 schools get in the mix.
Gavin Moore Gavin Moore 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Brooke | 2024 State WV – Brooke | 2024
Brooke’s Gavin Moore Gavin Moore 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Brooke | 2024 State WV was another one of the first prospects that I covered and was also the first time getting to see him in person. He put up some really good numbers in the testing portion of camp and I liked the way he moved out there. Moore ran a 4.7 40 and jumped an impressive 3.25-yard broad jump. He also ran the shuttle in 4.41 seconds and measured in at a solid 5’10.5 and 173 pounds with still room to pack some weight on his frame. I think Moore is flying under the radar a bit right now but I could see him picking up quite a few D3 offers this season and potentially even some D2 interest with a big senior season. Moore is your classic 3rd-down type of running back that can stretch it outside or go out and run some patterns in the passing game.
Other notable running backs:
Young and smaller but showed good athleticism for their age. Names to keep an eye on.
Zander Stabile – Harrison Central (OH) | 2026 | 5’8 142
4.66 40 – 3+ yard broad jump – 4.31 shuttle
Josh Brunton – Hopewell (PA) | 2026 | 5’6 138
4.7 40 – 3 yard broad jump – 4.4 shuttle
Linebackers:
Tyler Glover – Chartiers Valley (PA) | 2024
I did not know 2024 Chartiers Valley (PA) linebacker Tyler Glover before camp but I sure do now. Glover was one of the most impressive athletes at Friday’s camp and put up some very elite testing numbers. He measured in at a very solid 6’2 214 and is put together well. Glover ran off a blazing 4.5 40 and for a guy his size and position that is very high tier. He also had a very good broad jump of 3.2 yards and a fast shuttle time of 4.37 seconds. I’m not sure why the 2024 prospect is under the radar but he picked up his first offer from the Cardinals of Wheeling University to no surprise after putting up those numbers. With his size and athleticism, I would be shocked if D1 schools don’t take notice of him this season.
Devin Phillips – Austintown Fitch (OH) | 2024
Devin Phillips from Fitch HS in Youngstown, Ohio could have been placed in the running back or linebacker section but his highlights were mostly at linebacker so that’s where I’ll put him. He probably doesn’t have the size to play linebacker at the next level at least at a D2 school but he put up some good numbers at camp. Phillips measured in at 5’9 170 but he tested well enough that I think he could slide back to safety in college. He had a good 40 time of 4.65 seconds and had one of the best broad jumps of the day at 3.5 yards. Phillips is a great leaper and can hit a 40-inch vertical too. He ended with a solid 4.38 shuttle time and his athleticism really jumped out amongst the other athletes there.
Jesse Rodino – Marian Catholic (PA) | 2024
The Rodino family brought some talent with them to Wheeling U’s FNL Camp on Friday and another one of the family that I liked was Jesse Rodino. He’s a long Edge/OLB prospect at 6’3 220 and will probably bulk up and play more of a defensive line role in college but was working out as a linebacker in camp. His testing numbers were decent with a 5.0 40, a 3-yard broad jump, and a 4.75 shuttle. I’m not sure if he’ll be a D2 offer type of prospect or not but there are some things to work with and he has some size that you can’t teach. At the very least a D3 school will get a good player if a D2 doesn’t.
Tristan Lux – Virginia Academy (VA) | 2026
If you saw 2026 Virginia Academy linebacker Tristan Lux in person you would guess he’s getting ready to play on Saturdays this fall for some college. When you find out he’s only a 2026 prospect you are going to be shocked. Lux did reclassify to the 2026 class so he might be a little older than most rising sophomores but he’s still an impressive athlete. He measured in at 6’1 216 and is filled out well for his age. Lux put up a respectable 4.82 40 time and 4.57 shuttle while jumping 2.75 yards in the broad jump. He’s a strong athlete and has a bright future ahead of him. I expect he will at least be a D2 prospect by the time he’s a senior if not D1.
Harlee Hanna – Canal Winchester (OH) | 2024
Canal Winchester (OH) linebacker Harlee Hanna had a very good junior season for the Indians in a very tough Ohio DII division. Hanna totaled over 150 tackles while earning First Team All-OCC/District and Third Team All-Ohio. He has decent size at 6’0 217 and had a solid 40 time of 4.8 seconds. Hanna also had a nice broad jump of 3 yards and a 4.6 shuttle. He’s your classic middle linebacker and very stout in run defense. Hanna is a physical player and strong athlete and likes to muck it up in the middle of the line of scrimmage. He already holds an offer from D2 Tiffin University and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Wheeling University join them in time.
Other notable linebackers:
Daniel Goodson – Union Local (OH) | 2025
5’10.5 191 – Smaller but fast and athletic – 4.55 40, 3.1 yard broad jump, & 4.6 shuttle – limited film right now but should have a bigger role this season.
