Canada's CFC Top 100 game was quite the site back on May 26th. For those who are not familiar with the game it would be the comparable of the Under-Armour All-American game that takes place for the top High School football players across the United States.

In today's article we start to get familiar with one of the biggest stand outs from the CFC Top 100 game with rising class of 2025 QB [player_tooltip player_id='882921' first='Ben' last='Casselman']. The Durham, Ontario native possesses some elite traits in the passing game. Quite often the 6-foot-1, 195-pound gungslinger can be seen getting outside the pocket when pressured and putting the ball on a rope for where only his receiver can get it. I think one of my favourite things about Casselman is he brings a very calm approach to the game. Watching Casselman play in the CFC game you could see even when his team was under pressure, he takes the time to go through his progressions. Having a QB who displays that poise can be relieving on an offensive line who's getting beat in the trenches.

Playing with the Durham Dolphins, Casselman tends to run out of spread personnel which allows for him to take the game into his hands. You can often see on his film when pressure comes off the edge he smoothly can jump into the pocket and either find an open target, or make something happen with his feet. There's a lot to like about Casselman from a coaching stand point. Seems to have a good head on his shoulders, definitely has the football IQ as you can see him read the field, and is a gamer when under pressure.

In Canada, it tends to be a little tougher for recruits to earn D1 offers in the U.S. There's definitely a trend we have seen in the north when it comes to offers, D1 coaches feel a lot more comfortable grabbing lineman from Canada rather than the skill positions. However, Canadians quarterbacks like Jacksonville Jaguars Nathan Rourke (Ohio Bobcats alumni) are certainly paving the way for guys like Casselman.

There's a ton to like about Casselman's game and I think the next step for the rising junior is the arm length. It will come with time, but the only part of his game that separates him from the next level, is stretching the field. He's got elite zip on the underneath throws but I look forward to seeing how his arm progresses going into his senior year.
