Ben Casselman played his heart out to help his team advance in the playoffs. Anytime Durham’s offence needed a big play, Ben was able to provide it, whether it was a deep ball downfield, where he was able to put it right on his receiver, or extending a play with his legs and fighting for a first down. His versatility makes him such a dynamic quarterback. What I loved most about his game today was how calm he was in the pocket, despite dealing with pressure in his face on what seemed like every play. Ben Casselman might just be the best Ontario quarterback I have seen.

Casselman’s most recent tape was from the summer league in Ontario where he showcased some impressive poise in the pocket and consistency as a passer. Casselman plays with consistent footwork and plays the game in a clear rhythm with an emphasis on getting the ball out quickly. Casselman showcases really good athleticism with burst and twitch as a runner helping him display high level escapability and the ability to be an impactful runner past the LOS on broken plays.

Ben is an unbelievable talent. His pocket presence is something you don’t see in a quarterback at his age. He understands when to step up in the pocket and make a pass down field, and he also has the awareness to roll out of the pocket when necessary. Ben will often make passes out of the pocket on the run and it will be right on the WR. Casselman’s arm is amazing to watch, as he has the ability to throw the deep ball and put it right on the money. He is also able to throw intermediate and short routes with consistency. My favourite part about Ben’s game has to be the fact that he never forces the game. He allows it to come to him, which you often see in older quarterbacks that have many years of experience. With all this being said, Ben Castleman has to be at the top of the list of quarterbacks to watch this OSFL season.
