Defensively, he is a run stopper who delivers big shots and is always in a position to make a play. Offensively he plays a vital role in moving the ball on the ground. In the state title game last season, he had 57 yards rushing and a TD. I could see him stepping up into a bigger role this season and take his game to another level on the offensive side of the ball, and if he does that, it's going to make Bryce and the rest of the receivers lives really easy.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_player":["402051"],"_player_evaluations_1_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"Damion really burst on the scene in the state championship game, as Brady Drogosh was able to find him time and time again. He's going to be a Sophomore this season, so it appears his role is going to increase even more. Damion is a legit D1 threat eventually, and I think he will be a huge factor for DLS this season if they are going to get back to Ford Field.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["437938"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"I've mentioned Tayshawn before, but I think his role can't be overstated this season. King will be looking for some stability offensively after Dante Moore moves onto college, and I think Tayshawn can provide that stability and sure yardage each game. If King wants to get back to Ford Field, he's going to have to shoulder a major amount of the work, and I think he's up to the task.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":["not_in_db"],"_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_player_details_selected_featured_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_selected_featured_image":"field_62cca28ffa4e7","player_evaluations_3_player_details_player_name":"[player_tooltip player_id='1290463' first='Carson' last='Vis'] ","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_player_name":"field_62aba4c9ecf2f","player_evaluations_3_player_details_graduating_class":"2025","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_graduating_class":"field_62aba4ddecf30","player_evaluations_3_player_details_height":"6'3u0022","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_height":"field_62aba4e8ecf31","player_evaluations_3_player_details_position":"2410","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_position":"field_62aba4f0ecf32","player_evaluations_3_player_details_school":"Grand Rapids South Christian","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_school":"field_62aba4fdecf33","player_evaluations_3_player_details_club_team":"","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_club_team":"field_62d20e723441a","player_evaluations_3_player_details":"","_player_evaluations_3_player_details":"field_62aba4afecf2e","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"Carson is going to be a huge part of the South Christian offense this season. He had a great season last year catching passes every game en route to a state title. His big 6'3 frame and sticky hands make him a threat on every level. He's still got other weapons around him, but if he can take some of the defensive pressure off them, it's going to help break all of them free, and they'll be able to throw the ball all over the yard.","_player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_4_player":"","_player_evaluations_4_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"","_player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":5,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-64ac31b5c3600"} /--> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":["not_in_db"],"_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_0_player_details_selected_featured_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_player_details_selected_featured_image":"field_62cca28ffa4e7","player_evaluations_0_player_details_player_name":"Jhace Massey ","_player_evaluations_0_player_details_player_name":"field_62aba4c9ecf2f","player_evaluations_0_player_details_graduating_class":"2024","_player_evaluations_0_player_details_graduating_class":"field_62aba4ddecf30","player_evaluations_0_player_details_height":"6'4u0022","_player_evaluations_0_player_details_height":"field_62aba4e8ecf31","player_evaluations_0_player_details_position":"2411","_player_evaluations_0_player_details_position":"field_62aba4f0ecf32","player_evaluations_0_player_details_school":"Gladwin","_player_evaluations_0_player_details_school":"field_62aba4fdecf33","player_evaluations_0_player_details_club_team":"","_player_evaluations_0_player_details_club_team":"field_62d20e723441a","player_evaluations_0_player_details":"","_player_evaluations_0_player_details":"field_62aba4afecf2e","player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"Jhace is a true athlete, playing QB, Slot/WR and linebacker. Gladwin is going to rely on the talented senior heading into his 3rd year of varsity ball in a variety of ways. His coaches rave about his defense, and love his versatility to create mismatches. He's quick and has long strides, and has great vision to avoid defenders when he carries the ball. His hands are sticky and his big frame makes jump balls tip his way more often than not. GLIAC teams are starting to take notice and extend offers, and I would be shocked if more don't follow very soon.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_player":"","_player_evaluations_1_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":2,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-64ac732a22060"} /--> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["295480"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"Charlie is going to be a really important piece for West Catholic, as they look to replace the production of Army commit Timmy Kloska. He's got great potential and colleges are starting to take note. He's a true 2 way player, securing 120 tackles last season, and 15 sacks. He's a guy that refuses to go down on first contact, and is quick enough to make guys miss. If Charlie can have a productive season offensively, there is no reason West Catholic won't be a state title threat again.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_player":["827821"],"_player_evaluations_1_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"I'm picking a lineman for JLC's X factor, because Aiden is special! He's a mauler, and is super agile and athletic at his size. The CMU commit could be the biggest piece to their puzzle, as JLC would love to just run the ball behind him and wear defenses down. If Aiden can be the road grader that he has been, Lumen Christi could run their way all the way back to Ford Field.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":["not_in_db"],"_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_player_details_selected_featured_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_player_details_selected_featured_image":"field_62cca28ffa4e7","player_evaluations_2_player_details_player_name":"Jake Lott ","_player_evaluations_2_player_details_player_name":"field_62aba4c9ecf2f","player_evaluations_2_player_details_graduating_class":"2024","_player_evaluations_2_player_details_graduating_class":"field_62aba4ddecf30","player_evaluations_2_player_details_height":"6'1u0022","_player_evaluations_2_player_details_height":"field_62aba4e8ecf31","player_evaluations_2_player_details_position":"2411","_player_evaluations_2_player_details_position":"field_62aba4f0ecf32","player_evaluations_2_player_details_school":"Ottawa Lake Whiteford ","_player_evaluations_2_player_details_school":"field_62aba4fdecf33","player_evaluations_2_player_details_club_team":"","_player_evaluations_2_player_details_club_team":"field_62d20e723441a","player_evaluations_2_player_details":"","_player_evaluations_2_player_details":"field_62aba4afecf2e","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"Jake was a huge part of OLW's state title run last season, and I think if they want to make it back, he's going to have to have another record shattering season. Offensively, Jake ran for over 1,000 yards and added 21 TDs. Defensively, Lott ended up with the school single season tackle record at 180 total tackles, also adding 7 sacks, 5 fumble recoveries and 3 PBU's from the linebacker position. He's a high motor guy that is all over the field on both sides of the ball, and OLW will look to him to continue to produce after losing some production to graduation. If he can somehow match his junior year, OLW will be a favorite to make a deep run once again, and could repeat.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":3,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-64ad9593873d1"} /-->

Our state champions from last season had loads of talent, and underclassmen contributors. In this piece, I want to highlight a player from each state champion team that's returning and will be a huge contributor if they want to go back to back in 2023.
