Region 4 has an entirely new look, but the race to see who claims the region championship should still be thrilling. Each of these three teams is capable of surprising people this fall.

Kearns Cougars

The Cougar's roster is littered with some of the state's most underrated players. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='717909' first='Teki' last='Finau'] should be in for a breakout season. Offensive linemen [player_tooltip player_id='406987' first='Raymond' last='Tongolei'] and the rest of the Cougars offensive line will provide Finau with a clean pocket. On the outside, look for wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='894747' first='Lamoni' last='Matua'] to make a few big plays for Kearns offensively. The defensive line combination of [player_tooltip player_id='875590' first='Kymani' last='Falepapalangi'] and [player_tooltip player_id='894785' first='Alijah' last='Levao'] is one of the regions best. They will each stand out by putting pressure on the quarterback and making plays against the run. Linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='681349' first='Zeryan' last='Talo'] should lead the teams in tackles and live behind the line of scrimmage. Kearns Head Coach Matt Rickards and his squad will shock teams this fall.

Cyprus Pirates

Cyprus will be one of the most physical teams in the state. The Pirates are built to run the ball effectively and inversely stop the run. They will be doing both at a high level this fall. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='406988' first='Skyler' last='Armenta'] is one of the state's top rushing quarterbacks and has exceptional vision. He's tough to bring down and possesses good speed. Defensively the trio of [player_tooltip player_id='875510' first='Benson' last='Kofe'], Linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1548290' first='Uha' last='Malekamu'], and defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1294944' first='Manasa' last='Pela'] will provide problems for offenses all across the state. Head coach Tyler Garcia and the Pirates will be a tough out each and every Fall Friday night.

Taylorsville Warriors

The Warriors are looking to get off to a hot start in their new region. Last year's starting quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1207721' first='Cole' last='Kramer'] returns after flashing moments of brilliance last fall. If Kramer can turn these moments into consistent plays, then Taylorsville could be a thorn in several teams' sides this season. Wide receiver Karsan Kirkman should give Kramer a reliable target on the outside who can consistently create separation at all three levels. Defensively watch for linebacker Brandon Gutsman to make plays all over the field. Warriors Head Coach Chris Rosales and his squad will be much improved in 2023.
