July 2023 Update: 2024 Linebackers to Watch this Season

From a depth perspective, the 2024 class is extremely deep and is going to be one to watch out for over the next few months. In this article, we are going to shine a spotlight on some linebackers from the class of 2024 to watch out for this upcoming season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='618848' first='Chase' last='Bogle']-Linebacker-Lovejoy-6'2” 210-Pounds</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Lovejoy linebacker had an extremely impressive season last season. Bogle reads the play well and his reaction time is excellent. He attacks the opposing offensive backfield and uses his speed well. Bogle has no trouble getting into the backfield. Last season, he racked up 106 tackles and 14.5 tackles for loss. Bogle plugs up the rushing lanes well and does a good job of dropping back into coverage and separating the ball from the ball carrier. He is a prospect to watch out for this upcoming season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='624141' first='Zach' last='Smith']-Linebacker-Red Oak-6'1” 210-Pounds</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='624141' first='Zach' last='Smith'] is a linebacker that is all over the field for Red Oak. The Red Oak linebacker is a prospect that is always around the ball carrier. He shakes off blocks well and attacks the opposing offensive backfield in impressive fashion. Smith plays the run well and is able to read the play and react quickly. He is a prospect that I expect to have a strong 2023 football season. Smith has the talent to build off of the 2022 season where he 98 tackles, 6 sacks, and 7 tackles for loss. The best is yet to come for Smith.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='276685' first='Davis' last='Perkins']-Linebacker-Prosper-5'11” 210-Pounds</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='276685' first='Davis' last='Perkins'] has great speed, and he uses it well to get into the opposing offensive backfield. He knows how to put tremendous pressure on both the rushing and the passing attacks of the opponent. Perkins is great at stopping the run and has no trouble pulling the running back down into the backfield. The Prosper linebacker has the potential for a strong season this upcoming season. Perkins is another linebacker that has the potential to play on Saturdays.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='277438' first='Brandon' last='Booker']-Linebacker-Desoto-6'1” 195-Pounds</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='277438' first='Brandon' last='Booker'] does an excellent job of dropping back into pass coverage. Booker has a nose for the football and does a great job of reading the quarterback's eyes and playing the ball while it is in the air. He uses his speed well to move up and plug up any rushing lane. Booker is a consistent tackler, and he rarely misses tackles. The Desoto linebacker has set the stage for a strong 2023 season. He has the potential to play on Saturdays in the future.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='148296' first='Bryce' last='Bradley']-Linebacker-Fort Worth Christian-5'11” 200-Pounds</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Fort Worth Christian linebacker had a terrific 2022 season. Bradley recorded 106 tackles and 5 sacks last season. Bradley reads the play well and reacts quickly to bring down the ball carrier. He takes on blocks well and slips past them to make plays in the opposing backfield. Bradley has set the stage for an impressive season in 2023. Bradley is all over the field and I expect him to open plenty of eyes this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
