Yesterday, Hope College hosted one of the best and most competitive events of the summer. This 32-team 7v7 tournament offered a ton of fireworks, late-round emotion, and, of course, standouts. When I think back to the wide receivers, there are five standouts that I was very impressed by! Here are those standouts!

[player_tooltip player_id='926294' first='JT' last='Webber'] | Grand Blanc | Hudl

If I had to choose an MVP for the entire 32-team tournament, it would be [player_tooltip player_id='926294' first='JT' last='Webber']. I was lucky to watch quite a bit of Grand Blanc football yesterday. Every time I looked their way, [player_tooltip player_id='926294' first='JT' last='Webber'] was making a big play. As his nickname "route tech" indicates, JT runs some amazing routes and has 10.95 100M speed to pair. His initial release was the best I saw all day, and he put 100% effort into every play. Short, intermediate, deep, he made plays at every single part of the field. In addition, he had way more YAC yardage than most receivers, as he has the athleticism + speed to outrun defenders even when "down" was 1-hand touch. JT was also amongst the most conditioned athletes, as he didn't slow down one bit throughout the 5+ hours of competition. He was absolutely uncoverable all day, even against the best defensive backs, and I'm shocked he doesn't have more offers!

https://twitter.com/alex_pallone/status/1680272512322531330

Tristen Elizalde | Nouvel Catholic | Hudl

Tristen lit it up against North Muskegon. He's a deep threat that can also do damage in the slot. I was impressed with just about every play, as he always gave 100% effort and ran some great routes, even on the slippery grass. He had a whole lot of targets, and I noted zero drops in the short-intermediate parts of the field. There were a few deep shots that were a tad overthrown, but when he was thrown catchable balls, he did everything in his power to come down with a catch. Just look at the tweet below! Great ball tracking and concentration to come down with that catch. I didn't see as much of Tristen as I wish I did, but he's 100% on my radar as a great receiver prospect. His game reminds me a ton of Alex McLean (GVSU Enrolled) from Rockford last year!

https://twitter.com/alex_pallone/status/1680225323802148864

[player_tooltip player_id='602240' first='Micah' last='Carefelle'] | Mona Shores | Hudl

Micah was a very consistent receiver throughout the day. Against West Ottawa, he got his day going with a few short routes that he made the most of. Against Grand Blanc, he shifted gears and was catching dimes all over the field. Micah ran a ton of solid routes and showcased his ability to run after the catch as well as using his body to his advantage. I was impressed by his intermediate route running, as well as his hands. He was able to catch a few difficult balls! He made some big plays in big moments, and I have a feeling Micah will be even better once the pads come on!

James Starr | Mona Shores | Hudl

Late in the game against Grand Blanc, James showcased some of his abilities. He's an athletic 6'0 receiver with long arms and a good catch radius. I was especially impressed by his deep routes and concentration through the catch. He initially caught my eye with a highlight-reel leaping TD grab. I am looking forward to seeing much more of James as the season begins!

[player_tooltip player_id='1124466' first='Kaleb' last='Parrish'] | Mason | Hudl

Parrish was another unguardable receiver. He's more of a TE on offense with his 6'5" 210 size, but he got to have the off-ball receiver experience yesterday, and he did incredible. The obvious ability that Kaleb possesses is using his size to his advantage. When you're 6'5, you better be good at climbing the ladder and high-pointing balls, and that's what he was doing all day long. Whenever Mason was in need of a big play, Kaleb delivered. There were a few TD grabs in particular where Kaleb very easily leaped up to grab the ball where no DB had a chance. He was also one of the only athletes in attendance who I didn't see slow down after competing for hours on end.
