Continue ReadingBailey is one of the top defensive players in this class. He’s a box safety who’s a solid tackler and is an explosive player in the box. The first thing about his game that jumps out is his ability to play downhill. Not only is he explosive but he knows how to evade blocks and excels as a one-on-one tackler causing much disruption.
His game is still evolving but by the time he’s a senior year come. His trajectory looks like he’ll be a do it safety. In the meantime, we need to see him make more plays in coverage and develop that all-around skillset. Bailey currently holds an offer from the University Of Pitt.
Williams is an up-and-comer and he’s a part of a proven pedigree that consistently produces defensive college prospects.
Williams is 5’11 160 pounds and has a long rangy frame. I especially notice his patient feet and his ability to play the football grabbing a nice interception his only one on the season. He does well in turn and run situations to mirror receivers.
Williams wasn’t tested much this past season, but with the departures of current Kentucky Wildcat corner Nasir Addison, we will get a better sense of what Jymir is made of and what his progression looks like.
Tall long corners are some of the most coveted under this defensive coaching staff. There’s no doubt that Williams has the coaching and tools to develop into a Power 5 prospect.
Calhoun is a bigger back at 5’11 but has the speed to be dangerous in the open field. I came away impressed with his patience and his ability to let plays develop. He does a great job of following his block and has great vision for seeing and hitting holes with burst.
Didn’t see much of him forcing missed tackles which transfers to every level of football. That’s the one area of his game where he can grow and get better. Calhoun had an impressive freshman year rushing for 539 yards and 8 touchdowns. In addition, earned his first D1 scholarship to the University Of Duke.
Highlights
Edwards is a player who has been tearing up the JV level for Bergen Catholic. A 6’4 185 pound edge rusher and wide receiver, CJ is dynamic at both positions.
However, I saw more of an impact being felt at the wide receiver position. A player at his moving the way he does after the catch is special, and cant be found in many places. Edwards is a special athlete and im excited to see what he does in his first full year of varsity.
Jones was a standout defensive lineman in his first varsity season. He showed, for a freshman, he has size at 6’3 220 pounds, some polish, and an explosive first step. He has some uncanny closing speed and high motor when pursuing that quarterback. Jones landed as a new addition and the number-one player in the state. As a result of , the number of edge rushers who doing what this young man is doing at such young age.
Jones’s trajectory is pointed way up. He played so well that he earned offers from Penn State, Rutgers, Michigan, and Uconn. Look for Jones to be one of the top prospects regardless of class this upcoming season
