Jay is a player who’s not known strictly because he doesn’t have an abundance of film out there. However, this season will be his coming out party and will put New Jersey on notice of the talent he possesses.
Gardenhire Crooks is a lineman who can play both ways. He’s a left tackle and a nose guard at 6’8 310 pounds, he’s good at left tackle, but he can be special on the interior defensive line. Right now, he’s a great run plugger but he has the talent to be good as a run defender and pass rusher. For a young man his size, he can move pretty well and does well when he has to pursue to the football.
He’s still raw when IT comes to actual polish, but this is the season where he’ll take a massive step forward and start to gain massive offers.
Highlights
Grayson is a young man that I have written about extensively this off-season. He has high expectations coming into the season with his first full year of starting on Varsity. With the departure of Ohio State safety Jayden Bonsu Grayson will be looked upon to fill that role.
At 6’0 170 with a 76in wingspan, Grayson will look to be a difference maker on the backend. He’s a physical player and not afraid to be physical in the run game. He can play in the box or as a one high safety roaming and making plays. It will be interesting to see how Grayson adjusts to the speed of the game.
Would to see him improve by being better at breaking on routes.
The most electric player in the class, Forester is a sight to behold with the ball in his hands. Not only is he but he has the acceleration that you only see from the truly elite mover.
Calling him a running back does his skillset a disservice. At 6’0 190 pounds Forester can get it done as a slot receiver also. His breakaway speed is tough for opponents to deal with. He has that type of speed that destroys pursuit angles.
One way I would like to see Forester improve is by being more elusive. And making a concerted effort to force more missed tackles.
Briehler finished last season as New Jersey’s sophomore leader in sacks with 7. At 6’3 265 Kole has a compact frame and excels at keeping his pads low throughout his reps.
Whether it’s as a pass rusher or a run defender Kole can be both explosive and low. Which allows him to play fast and be unblockable.
My challenge for Kole is to improve his pass rush moves and pass rush plan and get 10 sacks.
Stewart is one of the best players on a stacked DePaul Catholic roster.
At 6’2 185 pounds Stewart is one of the most tested corners in the super conference. His length, ball skills, ability to turn and run, and locate the football in the air are some of the best in the state.
Stewart has serious Power 5 looks from Pitt, Syracuse, Boston College, and Virginia Tech.
