His numbers (194-of-327 passing, 3,319 yards and 33 TDs; one rushing TD) were among the best in the Palmetto State. More importantly, McMillon helped the Griffins to their highest win total (nine) since 2017 when they went 10-4. The third-round appearance was also the furthest a Fairfield Central team had advanced in the post-season since winning the Class 3A title in 2016.
According to head coach Demetrius Davis, McMillon’s positive influence on the team extends beyond the playing field. His ability to motivate teammates and show leadership is something he last saw as a college assistant at South Carolina State University.
The quarterback was Malcolm Long, a state champion and Mr. Football winner at Gaffney. McMillon, with his six-foot-1, 185-pound frame is like Long both in build and passing prowess.
Davis, however, is comparing McMillon’s level of play to Long in college, where he set numerous passing yards and led the Bulldogs to three Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference titles. He’s even willing to compare McMillon favorably among his high school peers.
“I personally think that Cam McMillon is the best quarterback in the state for all classifications,” Davis said. “We are really expecting him to pick up where he left off last year.”
McMillon avoiding the sophomore jinx would be vital for Fairfield Central if it wants to dethrone Gray Collegiate as Region 4-2A champion. The Griffins lost eight seniors last year, although only one on the offensive side.
Junior TyDarian Grier is expected to be a primary target for McMillon. He’s also developed a rapport over the summer with other receivers.
Miles Robertson will play on both sides of the football at running back and linebacker. His leadership will be vital for what will be a young group on defense.

FILM REVIEW
Myles Robertson LB 2024 – The 6-foot, 180-pound senior is an active tackler and play disrupter on defense. He’s always eyeing the football whether lining up on or backed away from the line of scrimmage. Robertson seemingly is the first Griffin in position to make a stop. He’s an asset in pass coverage as well, sometimes putting him in position to make an interception. In those situations, Robertson’s running back skills come into play as he turns the tables on the offense in being difficult to bring down.
