There was plenty of talent on hand and some really impressive athletes and performances. Here were some of the top quarterback talent I saw at camp.
Lucas McAllister Lucas McAllister 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB Weir | 2025 WV – Steubenville (OH) | 2025
This was my first time getting to see 2025 Steubenville QB Lucas McAllister Lucas McAllister 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB Weir | 2025 WV in person and I was impressed with his play. McAllister transferred from Weirton Madonna (WV) this year and should take over the reins for the always-talented Steubenville Big Red. McAllister is still growing into his body but he has pretty good height for the position. He throws a pretty ball and can really get some air under it. His throwing mechanics probably aren’t what you’d consider textbook but he can get the ball where he wants it to go. McAllister looked good in drills and moves well and also performed well throwing to receivers on air. He’s a 2025 prospect to keep an eye on for the next two seasons.
Aidan Davis – Wheeling Park | 2025
This was my second time getting to see 2025 Wheeling Park QB Aidan Davis in camp this summer and he looked good again. Davis is a smaller QB right now but still has time to grow as a rising junior. He’s another quarterback that should take over the varsity QB position this season and I’m expecting him to break onto the scene. Davis is a very athletic QB that can beat you with his legs or his arm. He had a very good sophomore season on the hardwood averaging over 20 ppg. Davis throws a great ball and has great command of his throws putting the ball where he wants it to be. He can throw on the run well and has good arm strength that can stretch the field. This is another 2025 QB that you need to follow for the next two years.
Braelyn Sperringer Braelyn Sperringer 6'1" | 200 lbs | QB Brooke | 2024 State WV – Brooke | 2024
I just got to see 2024 Brooke QB Braelyn Sperringer Braelyn Sperringer 6'1" | 200 lbs | QB Brooke | 2024 State WV in camp last week at Bethany College’s prospect camp and he looked good again. He picked up an offer from Bethany at last week’s camp and I could see him potentially earning another. As I said before, he’s a physically impressive QB that is filled out well and can also run. Sperringer is a consistent performer and having seen him twice in a week, I bet he’s consistent in practice too. He threw some nice passes downfield on air to receivers and you can see he has a lot of arm talent. If he has a good and healthy senior season I expect him to pick up some D2 offers.
Braden Wade Braden Wade 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Linsly | 2026 State WV – Linsly | 2026
He’s only a rising sophomore but 2026 Linsly QB Braden Wade Braden Wade 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Linsly | 2026 State WV can really spin it. I actually got to see Wade in a previous 7on7 environment and I was really impressed then and today as well. For a young QB, he seems to be very advanced and the arm talent was very apparent. His arm strength is impressive for his age and he can make all of the throws. Wade should take over Linsly’s offense in 2024 and with another year of JV under his belt I expect him to have a very good two years for the Cadets in 2024 and 2025. If he can keep growing physically, I expect him to at least be an eventual D2 prospect or better.
Van George Van George 6'2" | 215 lbs | QB Winton Woods | 2024 OH – Winton Woods (OH) | 2024
Winton Woods 2024 QB Van George Van George 6'2" | 215 lbs | QB Winton Woods | 2024 OH already had an offer from home-standing Hilltoppers of West Liberty but he still made his way to camp to get some work in and looked good. George has the prototypical size that you’re looking for in a QB at 6’2 210 and was an All-Ohio DII performer last season on a talented Winton Woods team. He’s an athletic QB but can really do damage to opposing teams with his arm. George has a big arm and can throw off his back foot and still get the ball downfield with zip. He throws well from the pocket and on the run. George has compiled quite a few offers this year and I can see why. I expect him to have a big senior season in a tough Ohio DII division.
Other notable QBs that did some good things:
Trevon Williams – Steubenville (OH) | 2026
Zach Putnam – Conotton Valley (OH) | 2025
Cole Francis – Barnesville (OH) | 2027
