Top Defensive Linemen from the PSR Big Showcase
In the barrage of talent that the Union City rosters, the defensive lineman Rosario may tend to get overlooked in the “grand scheme” of things. However, at the PSR Big Showcase he made a big push for himself as he prepares for his senior season. Rosario lined up as an edge rusher and showed a quick get off while he pass rushed with a plan. Every spin he took, Rosario gave the offensive lineman a different look than what he previously saw. At one point, like a pitcher in baseball, he started to set up future pass rush moves he would later deploy with moves he used earlier – he started to play the game-within-the-game. Having coached against the Soaring Eagles recently, their defensive line is extremely disciplined and bought it to their coaches’ message. Rosario embodies this.
Watching Dejesus reminded me of a sports car weaving in-and-out of traffic on I-278/the Staten Island Expressway. In other words, Dejesus can simply MOVE. Quickly, nimbly, with power, and also dexterity – Dejesus showed all these traits with just about every single rep he took. It starts with his sudden get off where he gains ground, in a hurry, with each step he takes. Because of how quickly he gets off the snap he is able to generate a tremendous amount of force. Dejesus can cross an opponents’ face as fast as the wind and changes directions/u-turns off the offensive linemen’s heels to pursue without losing stride. He is an impressive edge player due to his explosive athleticism and how he moves nearly as well as a skill.
Highlights
Today’s lone prospect from the Keystone State, Ortiz profiles more of an interior linemen in an even front or tackle in an odd front. What made him so disruptive was his agility. His allowed him to work past offensive linemen who were not as fleet of foot. One move that I saw Ortiz get home on, where his agility and footwork were highlighted, was how he executed a great spin move. Without fault, he effectively used his inside arm to pin the lineman’s shoulder down, avoiding him from being blocked as he pulled off the move.
We close out the PSR Big Showcase’s defensive linemen scouting with yet another Millville Thunderbolt. Offer is surely one of the larger players on their team, but make no mistake out it, he aspires to move like one of their many athletic skills. Offer plays with an outstanding motor. He never gives up on a play, keeps working, and will hustle in pursuit. Given the amount of talented bodies I have seen on their line, it is refreshing to see this platoon sell out trusting that their teammates are equally adept at performing. I would not be surprised if Offer was one of the strongest players on their roster either, as he generated a great deal of power when getting his hands on the man in front of him.
