Ottawa University hosted a Mega Camp on June 3. More than 125 teams competed and more than a dozen college coaches were in attendance.
There were multiple players from Kansas who had incredible size. Here is a look at five players who are at least six-foot-tall and all weigh close to 200 lbs. All five are skill players who project as tight ends or defensive backs at the college level.
Kaleb Scott Kaleb Scott 6'0" | 180 lbs | ATH Basehor-Linwood | 2024 State KS , S, 6’0”, 185, Basehor-Linwood
Scott is a three-sport prospect for the Basehor-Linwood Bobcats. Scott is a fast weapon that returns kicks, catches passes, and breaks up pass attempts. He has good height and is a ballhawk on defense.
Emmitt Peters Emmitt Peters 6'1" | 200 lbs | ATH Blue Valley SW | 2024 State KS , S, 6’1”, 200, Blue Valley Southwest
Peters is a playmaker. He took snaps on both sides of the football during his junior season. On the defensive side of the ball, he finished with 50 total tackles and three interceptions. Offensively he was a “Jack Of All Trades” as he accounted for seven total touchdowns; five receiving touchdowns, two touchdown passes, and found the end zone one carrying the ball.
Maddox Waters Maddox Waters 6'4" | 225 lbs | TE Beloit | 2024 State KS , TE, 6’4”, 225, Beloit
Waters is an explosive tight end. He plays 7 v 7 for the Kansas Colts and also plays linebacker for Beloit. Waters can run block and catch touchdowns. He has good hands and runs consistent routes. He is fast enough that he can line up out wide and catch a screen, but he is a larger threat running routes down the middle of the field.
Sam Hull Sam Hull 6'4" | 210 lbs | TE Humboldt | 2024 State KS , TE, 6’5”, 205, Humboldt
Hull is a big target for quarterbacks. During his junior season, he caught 27 balls for 564 yards. He also had seven touchdown catches for Humboldt during the 2022 season and rushed for another touchdown. On the defensive side of the football, he had 41 total tackles.
Jason Desbien, TE/DE, 6’0”, 205, Smith Center
Smith Center is a program that constantly produces college-level football players. Desbien could be next in that long line. He plays tight end and defensive end for the Redmen. He is a physical player that could play multiple roles for a team based on need. He has recorded more than 100 tackles over the course of his junior and sophomore seasons.
