Continue ReadingLawrenceville has been recruiting some high-upside talent in recent years Samuel Lateju Samuel Lateju 6'5" | 225 lbs | DL Lawrenceville | 2025 State NJ may be the next great player to come out of that school. Samuel is a toolsy edge rusher who doesn’t have much tape at the moment however, his talent and upside cannot be ignored. He has an explosive first step, with great bend and flexibility around the edge.
Due to his lack of tape, all we can gather is that he’s an athlete playing edge rusher and has a long way to go in terms of use of hands, pass rush plan, pass rush moves, and playing the run effectively.
Sam has already earned offers from the University of Syracuse, Charlotte, Boston College, and Kent State. One thing is for sure Sam will only get better and his best football is ahead of him.
Malachi Lewis Malachi Lewis 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Montclair | 2024 FL is an intriguing prospect for many reasons. One he has excellent size at 6’3 188 pounds with a nice balanced frame of thickness and length. Secondly, when watching his tape you get a feeling that he plays most of the game out of structure, which could mean either he has a bad OL or he loves to play out of rhythm and loves to scramble.
What can’t be denied is his physical traits. He has solid arm strength, good accuracy, and can push the ball down the field. Lewis makes my list because although he had 11 touchdowns, he still has tremendous upside and room to grow where he will shatter most of his previous stats and will be one of the best quarterbacks in the state.
Highlights
Brown was an interesting eval due to the fact he has solid tape at multiple positions. Coming over from Rumson Fair-Haven over to the Hun School, Brown was a solid edge rusher who he was able to record over 10.5 sacks and 20 plus TFLs. Recently, he’s been taking reps at tight end so much that he earned an offer from the University of Bucknell.
If you look at his tape, size, and skillset it will have you torn to sum it up. He stands at 6’7 225 pounds and has great size for a tight end or edge rusher. Although he was productive at Rumson, his long terms outlook should be at a tight end. However, if you watch him run routes he’s a very stiff and tight-hipped route runner which isnt conducive to how modern-day tight ends are utilized. This is why he will project to a role-playing tight end where he can block and catch key first downs.
What a positive sign for Marcus especially if he plans on playing in the NFL. More teams are utlizing the Mike Shanahan system of offense where tight ends play multiple, roles and alignments to create massive conflict for defenses. He may not get a ton of offers now but if he perfects his role it potentially could pay off with a spot in the professional league.
Tyson could play wide receiver and defensive back if he wanted to, for now, were scouting him as a high-upside cornerback. 6’2 corners are rare to find especially ones that can move the way Tyson does. In addition, to be a solid cover guy who can move fluidly and challenge at the catch point. Also, be physical in the run game, and tackle in one-on-one situations.
Jaime has four division one offers and we are monitoring this situation to see if any Power 5 teams put their name in for his commitment.
Highlights
Soltis is another Hun school player with enormous upside. 6’6 202 pounds running a 4.4 forty ( Hand time) his future as a wide receiver looks bright. He hasn’t explored the full spectrum of the router tree and isnt as fluid as you would like in and out of his routes. However, he does use his body well, catches in traffic, and is a solid blocker.
Soltis still has much growing to do as a player, but he’s a name I’m watching to take a step forward this upcoming year.
