A strong offseason of work in the weight room and throughout spring practice has raised the Braves’ confidence for a step forward this fall.
H.L. Bourgeois garnered an early stop on Prep Redzone Louisiana’s spring practice tours and a series of “Spring 3-2-1” spotlights looking at three key returning standouts, two notable breakout candidates and one underclassman to know sooner than later.
3 WELL-KNOWN RETURNERS
Tyron Winslow Tyron Winslow 6'4" | 275 lbs | DL H.L. Bourgeois | 2025 State LA — 6-4, 270 DL/OL — H.L. Bourgeois (2025)
and Kentra Lacy — 6-2, 280 OL/DL — H.L. Bourgeois (2025)
and Donald Williams III Donald Williams III 6'1" | 320 lbs | OL H.L. Bourgeois | 2025 State LA — 6-1, 320 OL/DL — H.L. Bourgeois (2025)
The trio of two-way linemen are among the faces and headliners of the strong rising junior class that is such a notable piece of the Braves’ optimism for this season (and the next). With his height, length and quickness, Winslow has been on the Prep Redzone Louisiana radar for more than a year now with Power-Five potential and the work ethic to reach that goal. Troy and Southeastern Louisiana have been his first two offers, and LSU, Mississippi State and Tulane have been among other programs beginning to show interest and build relationships. Lacy and Williams have started hearing from Louisiana (Lafayette), Southern, Troy, Southeastern Louisiana and Mississippi State as well and are hitting the camp circuit this summer to continue their development and raising their recruiting profiles.
Malik Myles Malik Myles 5'9" | 195 lbs | ATH H.L. Bourgeois | 2025 State LA — 5-9, 195 ATH — H.L. Bourgeois (2025)
Another major member of that 2025 cohort outside of the trenches, Myles has already taken snaps at quarterback, linebacker and — his most likely college position — running back and earned his first offer from Troy, while also hearing from some of the same schools as his aforementioned classmates. The three-sport athlete is thickly build and powerful through contact, but also shows good initial burst and acceleration in the open field and smooth pass-catching ability.
Jacolby Harris — 5-9, 160 DB/WR — H.L. Bourgeois (2024)
For all the talented 2025 standouts who began breaking through as underclassmen, the Braves will once again have a core group of seniors playing pivotal roles roles this fall. The small, but speedy starting cornerback is among the playmakers in the secondary on defense with track speed to close on passes in a hurry and ball skills to take interceptions the other way.
2 BREAKOUT CANDIDATES
Conner Wallace Conner Wallace 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH H.L. Bourgeois | 2025 LA — 5-11, 170 QB/WR — H.L. Bourgeois (2025)
Another versatile athlete for the Braves’ offense, Wallace can take the snaps and provide a dual-threat complement alongside Myles in the backfield or split out as one of the receiving weapons.
Brody Hebert — 6-2, 180 WR — H.L. Bourgeois (2024)
Regardless of which player is taking snaps on offense, the decorated baseball standout, including an all-state sophomore season in 2022, provides a big target to the outside.
1 UNDERCLASSMAN TO KNOW
Logan Renfro Logan Renfro 6'3" | 205 lbs | ATH H.L. Bourgeois | 2026 State LA — 6-3, 205 QB/DL/LS — H.L. Bourgeois (2026)
As the 2025 class officially rises to upperclassman status, the Braves do have a few younger student-athletes already stepping into notable roles for the program. Renfro’s freshman highlights largely came on special teams as a long-snapper and defensive end on punt-return units, but the budding multisport standout is expected to earn more time at quarterback and defensive end moving forward.
