Louisiana recruiting round-up: Recapping midsummer CB commitments

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Louisiana student-athletes have been announcing college commitments with fast-and-furious frequency the past month as the summer barrels through its midway mark.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Dozens of prospects have shared their college plans in efforts to secure their spots in respective recruiting classes and begin zeroing in on senior seasons with singular focuses on their high school teams. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here's a look at a few cornerbacks now locked in with Division-I programs after the mid-summer rush. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1612641' first='Markez' last='Davis'] — 6-2, 190 DB/WR — Northwest —&gt; LSU</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Raiders' two-sport standout was among the state's biggest stock-risers throughout the spring, including home-state LSU and highly respected secondary coach Corey Raymond taking notice and prioritize his recruitment. A couple FCS programs extended offers this spring, and a few FBS programs showed interest before Texas Southern ultimately managed to pry him out of state for what could prove to be a recruiting steal as he continues to develop.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1611403' first='Mitchell' last='Harris Jr.'] — 5-9, 155 DB — Archbishop Rummel —&gt; Nicholls State</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Harris is among the next in Louisiana's long track record of playmaking defensive backs who fall a little shy of prototypical measurables but far exceed their physical size with their big-time impact on the field. And, this summer, the all-Catholic League performer also committed to joining a track record of Nicholls State of managing the keep many of the state's most productive high school players in The Boot for college. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1782728' first='Jayd'n' last='Washington'] — 5-11, 170 DB — East Ascension —&gt; McNeese State</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another sleeper prospect who continued to improve his recruiting stock throughout this spring, Washington consistently hit the type of verified running and leaping marks colleges eye to back up his film. The home-state Cowboys eventually made the move with an offer in early June and landed his commitment later in the month.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1241513' first='Tyler' last='Williams'] — 6-1, 175 DB — Southern Lab —&gt; Northwestern State</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Kittens' multisport standout, among the top athletes for stories football and track programs on The Bluff, has been among his school's top sprinters and a long cornerback his coaches and teammates could trust on an island and who flashes some real hard-hitting physicality on the outside as well. Nicholls State, Lamar and Northwestern State all offered during the span of a month to end the school year, and he pledged to the Demons at the end of June.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
