He is putting in the work to become a special player. Earning the all division team as a defensive back, Adrian played the cornerback position extremely well in 2022. He has all the attributes you'd hope for in a CB1. He is going to play aggressively at the line of scrimmage and stay glued to the hip of the receiver as they progress through their route. Never giving much room between himself and the receiver, Adrian was able to put himself in position to either swat the ball away from the receiver or make the turnover. As a skills specialist for Delbarton, Philip was a major threat as a receiver and returner. Bringing in 7 touchdowns as a pass catcher, Philip made some spectacular toe touch catches but was mostly utilized as a quick route receiver. A lot of plays that went to Philip were quick screens or short routes designed to get the ball into his hands as quick as possible. He's quick and moves through defenders with ease, utilizing his great acceleration to get to the second level before defenders can get to him. Mikai Gamble of Hudson Catholic is a monster in the middle of the field. This is a man that will toss blockers to the side, clog up running lanes, and deliver the hit consistently. He is willing to blow up the block just to let his teammates rally to the ball carrier. I am not sure exactly how many tackles Mikai made in the backfield last season, but my guess would be in the double digits. As a sophomore, Xavier played RB, slot receiver, and LB. As a runner, he runs low to the ground, making it hard for defenders to make clean tackles against him. Paramus Catholic used him often in the pass game, playing a big part as a receiver coming out of the back field and exposing the matchup against linebackers. As a defender, Xavier used his mobile hips to rotate and drop into coverage well. He used his size to his advantage by maneuvering around would be blockers and sneaking up on the ball carrier. A safety for Delbarton, Tyler totaled 56 tackles and 2 interceptions on the season. Staying low in his back peddle, Tyler is able to change direction and come up field very quickly to make a play on the ball. He finds a way to get to the ball just in time to break up the pass.
