Continue ReadingPenn State landed the top-ranked linebacker in Pennsylvania’s 2024 class, way back in January, just two weeks after New Year’s Day. Pittsburgh Central Catholic’s man in the middle and defensive leader sits as the best front-seven prospect among current PSU commits. Jon Mitchell and Dejuan Lane are the lone defenders ranked above Speca, who might have a special bounce-back season in store for all of us this coming Fall. West Bloomfield’s Kari Jackson stands with Speca in the backer room, excited to see how the LB class grows.
There might not exist a better 2024 recruiting class other than the current Michigan Wolverine list of commits. So much so, that elite Pennsylvania talents like Cole Sullivan Cole Sullivan 6’3″ | 210 lbs | LB Pittsburgh Central Catholic | 2024 State PA and Zach Ludwig Zach Ludwig 6’3″ | 210 lbs | LB South Park | 2024 State PA find themselves at the “bottom” of Michigan’s recruiting board. Rankings are rankings, they certainly aren’t our rankings either. That being said, it goes a long way mentioning just how loaded this Michigan class is. Pittsburgh Central Catholic’s Cole Sullivan Cole Sullivan 6’3″ | 210 lbs | LB Pittsburgh Central Catholic | 2024 State PA and South Park’s Zach Ludwig Zach Ludwig 6’3″ | 210 lbs | LB South Park | 2024 State PA make up two-thirds of the current 2024 linebacker room, with Nashville’s Mason Curtis rounding out the trio.
Wyomissing’s Ryker Jones Ryker Jones 6’0″ | 195 lbs | LB Wyomissing Area | 2024 State PA was vocal about how well Princeton treated him while they courted the soon-to-be senior linebacker. The efforts led to an early commitment to the Ivy League program, with Ryker Jones Ryker Jones 6’0″ | 195 lbs | LB Wyomissing Area | 2024 State PA announcing his intentions this past April. Princeton has pulled in some notable talent across the country, although Jones seemingly being the lone backer. Princeton has secured verbals from Andrew Pedersen, a three-star athlete out of Tennessee, as well as IDL Brian Brennan and Dane Borene.
I have made the case to many involved that Juelz Goff Juelz Goff 5’10” | 195 lbs | RB Central York | 2024 State PA is the best RB in the class of 2024 (PA). McCloud has earned his rank, yet Goff is very close to overtaking his spot as the state’s best back. That’s a discussion for a separate piece. Whether or not you like Goff as the first or second-best RB in his class, the Panthers are happy bringing in a top back nonetheless. Juelz Goff Juelz Goff 5’10” | 195 lbs | RB Central York | 2024 State PA stands as the premier back of the current 2024 Pitt class. The way Pitt is bringing in kids right now, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the program land another special back before the off-season ends.
Highlights
Happy to include new Pennsylvania prospect Ayden Harris Ayden Harris 5’9″ | 205 lbs | RB Downingtown East | 2024 State PA in one of our Commitment reports, especially this early on. Ayden Harris Ayden Harris 5’9″ | 205 lbs | RB Downingtown East | 2024 State PA , an RB/ATH who will be suiting up for Downingtown East this coming Fall, announced on Saturday that he, as well as many others across the country, will spend his collegiate career at Kent State. A phenomenal addition to the Golden Flash class, Harris stands as the top prospect the program has brought in thus far. Even if the program fails to bring in any athlete ranked higher, you can argue that Harris will likely stay near the top of the Kent State commit boards. Harris, although currently unranked on our site, projects to crack the top 50 this coming July.
Criminally underrated across other ranking networks, Aiden Black Aiden Black 6’3″ | 225 lbs | TE Delaware Valley | 2024 State PA joins Khari Reid Khari Reid 5’10” | 165 lbs | DB Neumann – Goretti | 2024 State PA as the two Pennsylvania prospects trekking out West to suit up for the Cardinal next Fall. Aiden Black Aiden Black 6’3″ | 225 lbs | TE Delaware Valley | 2024 State PA ranks as the top tight end prospect in Pennsylvania, with plenty of local programs courting him, yet missing out. Black is currently the lone tight end on Stanford’s commitment board, yet I imagine the program will be okay sitting pretty with the 6’3, 235-pound pass-catcher under their belt.
Much like Aiden Black Aiden Black 6’3″ | 225 lbs | TE Delaware Valley | 2024 State PA , other networks aren’t showing PA tight ends enough love. Zack Zandier Zack Zandier 6’5″ | 230 lbs | TE Exeter | 2024 State PA , who doesn’t appear on many of the popular national sites, announced his commitment to Coastal Carolina this past week. Zandier, a near top-50 prospect and one of the top three tight ends in his class, should be in consideration for a third star. In perspective, none of that matters to Zandier now, his eyes are squarely on staying healthy and doing what he can to win games for Exeter this coming Fall.
