There were several WV and out of state athletes that stood out during camp that I made note of. Here were some of the top receivers and tight ends that I saw during camp.
Receivers:
LeeAnthony Sewell – Steubenville (OH) | 2024 | 6’2 190
LeeAnthony Sewell out of Steubenville High School was my top receiver standout from today’s camp. Sewell has very good size for the position and really stood out from the rest of the receivers today both physically and for his play. He was dominant in 1-on-1s and I didn’t see him lose one rep unless the throw was off. He can really run and I thought he ran great routes in 1-on-1s. I had him marked down as winning the most reps out of the receiver group and he was my WR Camp MVP. Sewell plays for the historic Steubenville Big Red and should see an increase in production this season. The 2024 prospect has received two D2 offers from Notre Dame College (OH) and Wheeling University (WV) this summer.
John Coleman John Coleman 6'4" | 185 lbs | K University | 2024 State WV – University | 2024 | 6’3 181
University’s John Coleman John Coleman 6'4" | 185 lbs | K University | 2024 State WV has been everywhere this summer during camp season. This was the second or third time I’ve gotten to see him at camp this year and he always stands out. Coleman has great size for a receiver at 6’3 180 and he certainly looks the part in person. He’s a tough matchup for defensive backs because of his size and length and he did well today at camp. Coleman is more of a possession receiver that you can just throw it up to and let him make a play. I think he has the potential to bulk up and become a tight end one day but he’s also a good pure receiver. Coleman is also a very good specialist and has a good leg.
Nehemiah Seals – Benedictine (OH) | 2024 | 6’2 165
Another physically impressive receiver at today’s camp was Benedictine (OH) Nehemiah Seals. Seals was an impressive-looking athlete that immediately stood out from a physical standpoint. He’s a long receiver at 6’2 that is still filling out his long frame. Seals was one of the best receivers in the 1-on-1 portion of camp and was tough to cover. He’s used to playing against really tough competition in DIII Ohio high school football so he was prepared for today’s competition. The rising senior is definitely a prospect you need to follow this season.
Avante Hayes – Edison (OH) | 2024 | 5’10 155
Another Ohio Valley prospect that looked good today was Edison’s, Avante Hayes. Hayes was a prospect I knew before camp and is primed for a breakout year on the football field in 2023. The Edison Wildcat is a speedy slot receiver that has some shift and twitch. Hayes stood out during 1-on-1s and those abilities gave him an advantage in that setting. The Wildcats lose some talent from last year’s 10-1 team which allows Hayes to have a great senior season. He’s also a starter at defensive back for his team and provides value there as well.
Other notable receivers today:
Cam Bennett – Philip Barbour | 2026 | 6’1 187
Lawson Lewis – Steubenville (OH) | 2024 | 5’8 145
Blake Boddie – Potomac (MD) | 2024 | 5’4 150
Tight Ends:
Austin Spinks – Spring Mills | 2025 | 6’3 203
Austin Spinks of Spring Mills High School was my TE Camp MVP for today’s camp. Spinks is a good-sized rising junior who performed very well during 1-on-1s and was very tough to cover. He went up against the linebacker group and was dominant. Spinks is a raw athlete right now but there is a lot to work with and is very coachable. He was asked to do things he wasn’t used to and was a quick learner. If he can keep getting quicker and faster while putting on a little more weight he should be a sought-after tight end prospect when he’s a senior. With still two more years of high school, Spinks has plenty of time to keep developing and fine-tuning his game. The future is bright for this 2025 prospect.
Marshall Christus – Huntington | 2024 | 6’4 185
Huntington’s Marshall Christus was a player I saw at the GCOH Performance Camp a few weeks back and was again one of my top performers at today’s camp. He was the most athletic player out of the tight end group and was just as good as Spinks. They were 1A and 1B to me and both shined today. Christus is very long and still needs to keep adding weight that’s needed to be a tight end but he has the athleticism to be a high-ceiling prospect. He’s a nightmare to cover 1-on-1 and won most of his reps. Christus is a fluid athlete that moves effortlessly and uses his size and length to his advantage. If I’m a college coach I’m offering him ASAP and figuring out if he’s a receiver or tight end later.
Jack Humes – Hempfield Area (PA) | 2025 | 6’0 210
An out-of-state 2025 prospect that stood out today was Hempfield Area TE, Jack Humes. Humes is more of an H-Back/Fullback right now with his 6’0 210 size but he looked good today in 1-on-1s. I had him winning at least three reps in that portion of camp and was a tough cover. I didn’t see many highlights on his Hudl but with only being a rising junior he should see a bigger role on his team moving forward. The upside is there for the 2025 prospect and worth keeping an eye on the next two years.
