Nearly 50 prospects made their way to Bethany College (WV) on Saturday afternoon for their high school football prospect camp. While it was a smaller camp, there were several WV and out of state athletes that stood out during camp. Here were some of the top linebackers, defensive backs and specialists that I saw during camp.

Linebackers:

Nick Love - West Branch (OH) | 2024 | 5'10 180

I liked what I saw from West Branch 2024 linebacker Nick Love at Saturday's camp. Love is a quick linebacker that runs well and performed well in 1-on-1s covering running backs and tight ends. He had a productive junior season and finished sixth in total tackles on a very good West Branch team in only six starts. From watching his highlights from last season, Love is a sure tackler and uses good form. As an undersized linebacker it's essential that you don't shy away from contact and Love definitely does not. He does a nice job of staying low and wrapping up opposing players. Love flies to the ball and through the gaps and will make forcible contact. He should have an even bigger role for his senior season.

Other notable linebackers:

Daniel Goodson - Union Local (OH) | 2025 | 5'11 185

Christian Butts - Spring Mills | 2025 | 5'9 190

Reyad Jaber - Central Valley (PA) | 2025 | 5'8 195

[player_tooltip player_id='877123' first='Braylyn' last='Edwards'] - Philip Barbour | 2025 | 5'11 180

Jake Toohey - Union Local (OH) | 2024 | 5'10 190

Defensive Backs:

Michael Morral - Philip Barbour | 2025 | 6'1 170

Philip Barbour brought a nice contingent of prospects with them to Bethany College on Saturday and the best defensive back I saw in camp was 2025 Michael Morral. Morral is a lengthy and athletic DB that matched up very well with a talented receiver group. The DB group was small in numbers but Morral really stood out and was impressive in 1-on-1s. I had him down as winning the most reps from the DB group and he was not afraid of some big and athletic receivers. Morral ran well in the 40-yard dash and that speed showed up at camp and when watching his film. Still only a rising junior, this 2025 prospect has a bright future and a lot of upside for his next two years.

Lawson Lewis - Steubenville (OH) | 2024 | 5'8 145

The Steubenville Big Red had some good talent at camp to no surprise given how many great athletes they have and that was again the case with 2024 WR/DB Lawson Lewis. Lewis is a smaller defensive back but he matched up well with the talented receiver group in 1-on-1s. Even though he was giving up 4+ inches in height at times, I had him winning one of the highest amounts of reps in camp. Lewis was actually originally camping as a wide receiver but made the switch to DB in 1-on-1s due to a lack of numbers for the DB group and it was a great choice. I really liked his competitiveness and hustle and he showed some good things for someone who made a position change in the middle of camp. Keep an eye on this 2024 prospect as he fights for time on a loaded Steubenville team.

Patrick Webster - Philip Barbour | 2026 | 6'0 150

Yet another Philip Barbour Colt that stood out was 2026 ATH/DB Patrick Webster. This was the second time getting to see Webster in person this summer and I like the potential and upside of the young athlete. He's a little thin right now but has good length for a young player and he's also athletic. Most of his freshman highlights were at receiver and running back but he got work in at defensive back at camp. Webster was part of the small group of DBs but he made some nice plays in 1-on-1s and is a name to keep track of the next three years. I like high-upside players especially this early in their career and the rising sophomore certainly fits that bill.

Specialists:

[player_tooltip player_id='370277' first='Caden' last='Langley'] - Brooke | 2024 | 6'5 180

There was only one specialist in attendance working out at Saturday's camp but this mention isn't by default. Brooke High School's [player_tooltip player_id='370277' first='Caden' last='Langley'] looked really good kicking and punting at camp and definitely earned one of my standout spots. Langley is a very lengthy specialist at 6'5 and that length really contributes to his success as a kicker and punter. He has a very big leg and boomed off some really impressive punts. He got a lot of air under the ball with some good hang-time and was getting the ball to the endzone and inside the ten consistently from the 50-yard line. I'm expecting him to start on a couple of special teams units this season for the Bruins and to have a breakout senior season.
