While unique, at the end of the day it’s still football, and there are players that can absolutely compete at the next level. Let’s check in on some guys that should definitely have eyes on them this season.
Watching Mekhi on film, he is absolutely a can’t miss talent. He has impressive speed, and elite route running. Yards after catch are very common for Mekhi, with great vision to get upfield after the catch. Sticky hands and a high vertical will tip 50/50 balls his way more often than not. There is no reason he isn’t playing on Saturdays next fall.
Mason Mansfield
Mason Mansfield
Mason is a guy Gobles uses in a variety of ways. Offensively he can line up almost anywhere and be a playmaker. He has a knack for making defenders miss, and can go north and south, or use his speed to get to the edge. He doesn’t go down on first contact, and has good vision to find the weak spots in the defense. On the other side of the ball, he will not be fooled by eye candy. He is super disciplined, and stays home and waits for the play to develop, but when he gets his hands on the ball carrier, he is a sure tackler.
Jack McCaw
Jack McCaw
Jack has “0-60” speed, with an explosive first step. He can break away and be a home run hitter, or can punch it through the line inside the 5. He’s a very elusive back to bring down, and even when you get your hands on him he can break out of it. As an elite basketball player as well, he has incredible lateral movement and never gets off platform. He will be instrumental once again to his teams success, being a high volume back coming off a season where he scored 29 touchdowns.
Xzavior Garcia
Xzavior Garcia
Garcia is a menacing figure at 5’11 280, but he doesn’t move like it. He’s got light feet and moves really well at that size. He fires off the ball and is in the backfield no matter how you try and block him. Double him all you want, he will still wall up the gaps. He’s got good footwork and stays nice and low. Garcia lives in the backfield, with 30 TFL his Junior season. Expect to hear his name more in the coming months, as his Senior season is projecting to be pretty special.
Colin Johnson
Colin Johnson
Colin is a stout linebacker poised for a huge season. Johnson brings all 225 of him downhill in a big way. As sure of a tackler as there can be, he will create havoc for an offense. Can cover a lot of range side to side quickly, and doesn’t get outran by ball carriers. Really looking forward to seeing him work this season, he should be turning a lot of heads this fall!
