Check out a few notes on 10 eye-catchers from the first wave of camps — the first two line camps and first elite skills camp — below.
The players, listed in alphabetical order, include a mix of more established players and newer faces who stood out.
Kylan Billiot Kylan Billiot 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR Terrebonne | 2024 State LA — 6-4, 185 WR — Terrebonne (2024)
The Terrebonne star will garner inclusion in multiple pieces this month after one of Louisiana’s most notable summer-opening stretches culminating in an LSU offer and commitment. Billiot started solidifying his opportunity with a strong showing in Baton Rouge at the Tigers’ first elite skills camp of the summer with his combination of the lateral quickness and smooth athleticism that helped make him a basketball standout and now the bigger, stronger frame developed this year in the weight room.
Lamar Brown Lamar Brown 6'4" | 260 lbs | OL University Lab | 2026 State LA — 6-4, 260 OL/DL — University Lab (2026)
The big rising sophomore from right across campus worked from the defensive side during the Tigers’ first elite camp and already looked — and produced as — the part of one of the better prospects in his position group even in a day full of matchups against older athletes.
Bernard Causey Bernard Causey 6'0" | 160 lbs | DB John F. Kennedy | 2024 State LA — 6-0, 160 DB — John F. Kennedy (2024)
“Beeby” showed up and set the tone for a strong day at LSU’s first elite skills camp with his 4.55- and 4.59-second 40-yard dash runs and 9-foot-6-inch broad jump before heading outside for his (seemingly always) largely lockdown head-to-head reps.
Jalan Chapman Jalan Chapman 6'4" | 275 lbs | OL Warren Easton | 2026 State LA — 6-4, 275 OL — Warren Easton (2026)
The Eagles’ rising star, another of the early leaders of the Prep Redzone Louisiana rankings for the 2026 class, earned his LSU offer after a consistent day at the program’s first line camp of the summer.
Devin Harper Devin Harper 6'5" | 295 lbs | OL Calvary Baptist | 2025 State LA — 6-5, 295 OL — Captain Shreve (2025)
The LSU-targeted Gators left tackle made another trip from Shreveport for the Tigers’ second line camp and generated buzz among the top performers to come through. Harper was pleased this fall with the strides he took in his overall physicality and toughness he said his coaches and older teammates helped push him toward, and he looked notably flexible in his bend and quick on his feet in person at his size.
Jackson Jones Jackson Jones 6'7" | 290 lbs | OL Pine | 2025 State LA — 6-7, 290 OL — Pine (2025)
The Raiders’ rising junior tackle wasn’t a player previously on Prep Redzone Louisiana’s rankings, but certainly will be in the upcoming update — along with the radars several Power Five programs not only including the Tigers, but also offers from Ole Miss, Tulane, Louisiana Tech and TCU.
John David LaFleur John David LaFleur 6'6" | 240 lbs | TE Sulphur | 2025 State LA — 6-6, 240 TE — Sulphur (2025)
The Tigers’ first elite skills camp marked Prep Redzone Louisiana’s first time putting eyes on the big tight end — and LSU legacy — in person, and LaFleur moved well with his big frame and generated buzz as arguably the top performer at his position.
Brysten Martinez Brysten Martinez 6'6" | 290 lbs | OL East Ascension | 2026 State LA — 6-6, 280 OL — East Ascension (2026)
The young tackle from right outside of Baton Rouge in Gonzales is still raw, but looked impressive on his quick feet with his big frame at LSU’s first line camp of the summer.
Jamarcea Plater Jamarcea Plater 5'9" | 180 lbs | ATH Captain Shreve | 2026 State LA — 5-8, 170 ATH — Captain Shreve (2026)
The Gators’ rising sophomore has notable potential at a variety of positions on both sides of the ball and should be fun to watch develop the next three years and beyond. And at LSU’s first elite skills camp of the summer, his explosiveness, quickness and speed made him a mismatch for any defender put in front of him, particularly linebackers attempting to cover him out of the backfield.
Jahkeem Stewart Jahkeem Stewart 6'6" | 280 lbs | DL St. Augustine | 2026 State LA — 6-5, 295 DL — St. Augustine (2026)
The high-profile rising sophomore, Prep Redzone Louisiana’s top-ranked prospect in the class, made time in a hectic June schedule to visit LSU and work out against talented older opponents. From an immediate eye-test standpoint, Stewart is already one of the first players to stand out in every setting. And once the ball is snapped, he rises to the occasion as a consistent playmaker with a mixture of strength to move blockers, quickness around them and technique and feel to maximize those talents and physical attributes.
