Long known as one capable to producing deep playoff runs, it’s also starting to again produce a large recruiting pocket. From schools big and small alike, the talent is driving itself to even more talent.
The Class of 2025 is further proof. Here are the top eight players from the zone in the rising junior class.
Jameat Williams Jameat Williams 5'9" | 175 lbs | ATH Aiken | 2025 State SC ATH, Aiken
Williams was already knocking the door before this spring, when he’s dedicated himself to getting faster on the track. Williams has a 23.71 time in the 200-meter dash to his credit.
Jaquel Holman Jaquel Holman 6'2" | 195 lbs | RB Blackville-Hilda | 2025 State SC DB, South Aiken
If you ask Silver Bluff why the 6-foot-2, 180-pound hybrid linebacker/safety is ranked where he is, even the opposing players might say he should be higher after he wrecked their offense last year.
Cameron Austin Cameron Austin 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Barnwell | 2025 State SC QB, Barnwell
Barnwell will be the centerpiece of a War Horses’ offense that is now revamping after the losses of their two biggest impact player from last fall. It also means Austin will have more room to show off what he can do.
Chanston Crosby Chanston Crosby 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Bamberg-Ehrhardt | 2025 State SC QB, Bamberg-Ehrhardt
Crosby is a top-40 quarterback who is only going to continue to develop at an accelerated rate in the coming months. By the time 2023 starts, he’ll be prepared to improve upon some already highly efficient numbers.
Andon Hawkins Andon Hawkins 5'7" | 205 lbs | LB Midland Valley | 2025 State SC LB, Midland Valley
The top four tacklers on the Mustangs’ defense from last season will all be back in uniform next season. In the middle of it all is Hawkins, who piled up 109 tackles and 11 tackles for loss. When he’s on, he’s really on.
Malik Mozone Malik Mozone 5'10" | 180 lbs | DB Aiken | 2025 State SC LB, Silver Bluff
Silver Bluff is back on the rise after hitting a few early 2022 bumps in the road. Mozone was one of the reasons the Bulldogs only allowed 18 points per game last season. And he’s going to play a big role in the defense being even better next time around.
Garris Chambers Garris Chambers 5'11" | 260 lbs | OL Silver Bluff | 2025 State SC OL, Silver Bluff
You’d have a hard time arguing that Chambers was the most consistent player on the Silver Bluff roster from start to finish during his sophomore season. The center sets the tone for everything that happens after the snap.
Jevon Edwards Jevon Edwards 5'9" | 195 lbs | RB South Aiken | 2025 State SC RB, South Aiken
So many people are talking about quarterback Terrence Smith Terrence Smith 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB South Aiken | 2024 State SC this offseason that many are losing sight of the fact that one of the state’s best tailbacks is also back, too. In fact, by the time his career is done, he might be sniffing 6,000 career yards.
