University Lab graduates key pieces from its Division-III Select semifinal roster, but returns as much talent as anyone in the bracket.

And the Cubs, champions in 2021, emphasized their hunger to get back to the big stage and bring home the big trophy for the fourth time in seven years and fifth in 10.

"We're coming," rising junior star [player_tooltip player_id='144905' first='Keylan' last='Moses'] said. "That's all I've got to say: We're coming. We're excited to get started with spring and going into the summer, everything with that. We're all hungry, and we're coming."

University Lab was among the first stops of Prep Redzone Louisiana's spring practice tours and a series of "Spring 3-2-1" spotlights looking at three key returning standouts, two notable breakout candidates and one underclassman to know sooner than later.

3 WELL-KNOWN RETURNERS

[player_tooltip player_id='144905' first='Keylan' last='Moses'] — 6-2, 215 ATH — University Lab (2025)

The younger brother of former U-High and Alabama linebacker Dylan Moses has been firmly on the radar as one of Louisiana's elite 2025 prospects since before beginning high school, and he has been a varsity playmaker for the Cubs from the beginning. Keylan has been a havoc-wreaking edge rusher from the outset and continues to makes strides in his coverage as versatile chess piece of a defender. The unit is once again loaded with highly productive 2024 linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='285198' first='Harry' last='Beacham'], big 2025 edge rusher [player_tooltip player_id='144902' first='Alec' last='Haynes'] and two-way 2026 lineman [player_tooltip player_id='212343' first='Lamar' last='Brown'] among well-known prospects who could easily fall into this first category as established returning standouts in and around the box.

[player_tooltip player_id='285207' first='Granville' last='Anderson II'] — 5-10, 180 WR/ATH — University Lab (2024)

The Cubs return a couple of productive rising senior receivers who should be huge assets to the new quarterback (or potentially quarterbacks) taking the helm of the offense in [player_tooltip player_id='285207' first='Granville' last='Anderson II'] and [player_tooltip player_id='285208' first='Seth' last='Gale'], along with talented rising junior [player_tooltip player_id='148530' first='Zay' last='Martin'], the younger brother of former A.J. Ellender, Washington State and Oklahoma State receiver Davontavean "Tay" Martin — now with the San Francisco 49ers. Anderson set the program record this fall for most receptions in a season and has earned offers from Grambling State and Northwestern State and interest from Columbia, Southern Miss, ULM, Louisiana (Lafayette) and Tulane, among others.

The long, versatile defensive back is now among the veteran leaders in the Cubs' secondary, along with fellow rising senior [player_tooltip player_id='144887' first='Tony' last='Burns']. Dawson has played — and played well — at both corner and safety during his high school career, including an all-district and LFCA all-state junior campaign this fall on the back end of the defense with 86 tackles, four interceptions and a pair of pick-sixes that helped further underscore his speed. All Louisiana programs, including LSU, have recruited him to some degree thus far, including offers from Grambling State, ULM, Southeastern Louisiana and Nicholls State. And Texas State, Marshall and Arkansas State have each made moves during a recent ramp-up on his offer list.

2 BREAKOUT CANDIDATES

[player_tooltip player_id='913902' first='Jarvis' last='Brookshire'] — 6-2, 270 OL — University Lab (2025)

The big interior linemen is among the leaders up front offensively in a group that also includes Prep Redzone Louisiana-ranked prospects [player_tooltip player_id='291156' first='Preston' last='Jones'] and [player_tooltip player_id='586165' first='John' last='Hebert']. Brookshire plays center for the Cubs, has good size and strength and looked good in drills getting the snap off and still firing off for explosive blocks. And as mentioned with the wide receivers, his potential leadership and chemistry with rising senior Garrett Graves, rising junior [player_tooltip player_id='144904' first='Cortland' last='Brownfield'] or any other quarterback taking snaps could be a major aid to the new passers.

[player_tooltip player_id='291157' first='Jayden' last='Gloston'] — 6-0, 170 DB/ATH — University Lab (2025)

The Cubs have a strong tradition of sending defensive backs to Division-I colleges with another two expected to join that lineage in 2024 in rising seniors [player_tooltip player_id='139503' first='Marcus' last='Dawson Jr.'] and [player_tooltip player_id='144887' first='Tony' last='Burns']. And Gloston looks poised to be the next big name following Texas Tech extending an offer after seeing his sophomore film and track times. Gloston has a long fame and competitive drive that fits in well with his predecessors and current teammates.

1 UNDERCLASSMAN TO KNOW

[player_tooltip player_id='920623' first='Darius' last='Coleman Jr.'] — 5-11, 180 LB — University Lab (2026)

[player_tooltip player_id='212343' first='Lamar' last='Brown'] is one of Louisiana's top rising sophomores, but played a big enough role this fall as a freshman that he received mentioned in the "well-known returners" section — which allows the opportunity to highlight a classmate who looks like another name to know in the coming years. D.J. might already be bigger than the listed 5-11 height as he appeared one of the bigger athletes in the outside linebacker group alongside Haynes and looks poised to earn reps this year in a strong group and to become one of the major leaders and standouts in the years to come.
