This Virginia specific series analyzes some of the top quarterback performances from around the state in 2022. Each of these quarterbacks are primed for huge seasons come Fall 2023, and they're all premier D1 prospects.

2025 6'0 160 QB - [player_tooltip player_id='809697' first='Gabriel' last='Dombek'] - Brooke Point

[player_tooltip player_id='809697' first='Gabriel' last='Dombek'] shined bright on the field last season, and he truly made the most of his opportunities under center for the Black Hawks. In 2022, Dombek threw for nearly 1,000 yards, a 55% completion percentage, and a final cumulative QBR of 105.4. With his elite dual-threat ability, he excels in the read-option formation, and he's always a threat on the ground when he decides to tuck and run. His arm-strength and deep ball accuracy are what really stand out when you watch him play, and, for all of the right reasons, I'd go as far as calling him a gunslinger. [player_tooltip player_id='809697' first='Gabriel' last='Dombek'] is absolutely capable of taking full command of the Brooke Point backfield in 2023, and, if he's given the opportunity, I believe he will thrive in that position. The Brooke Point Black Hawks have a lot of exciting quarterback potential with Dombek on their roster, and my prediction is that they reach an above .500% winning percentage with him as the starter in 2023.

2025 6'0 200 QB - Brehon Cuffee - Deep Creek

Brehon Cuffee is an electrifying playmaker who thrives in scramble situations. In fact, he thrives so much that I would deem him one of the top improvisational runners in all of the DMV right now. Last season, Cuffee ran for about 300 yards and 4 touchdowns, with an additional passing touchdown along with 200 more yards. It's safe to say that Brehon Cuffee is one of the elite dual-threat QBs in the 2025 class, and I believe that will reflect on the Deep Creek Hornets' record very positively this upcoming season. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Brehon Cuffee is named an All-Conference QB this Fall, therefore all eyes must be on Brehon Cuffee and the Hornets in 2023.

2025 6'2 185 QB - [player_tooltip player_id='756080' first='Camren' last='Boykin'] - Potomac

[player_tooltip player_id='756080' first='Camren' last='Boykin'] is perhaps the most well-rounded quarterback on this list, and his numbers are certainly indicative of that. Boykin threw for 1,277 yards, 11 TDs, and only a single interception last season. His 11:1 touchdown to interception ratio is amongst the best in the state, and he led his Potomac Panthers team to a 2nd place record in the MAC. Cameron Boykin put forth his breakout season in 2022, so I expect that he'll be competing for a MAC title in 2023. The All-State Honorable Mention QB possesses an incredible amount of next level potential, and there's a very good reason that he has already been offered from elite programs such as Coastal Carolina.

2025 6'0 160 QB - [player_tooltip player_id='1199699' first='Drew' last='Morgan'] - Yorktown

[player_tooltip player_id='1199699' first='Drew' last='Morgan'] showed a lot of promise in 2022, and he continues to get better during every offseason. Morgan is mostly a pocket passer, but he's also very skilled at throwing on the run. He's very mobile and elusive in the backfield, allowing him to evade pressure amidst his progressions. [player_tooltip player_id='1199699' first='Drew' last='Morgan'] demonstrated decisive decision-making as well, and I believe that is strong evidence of his next level maturity. The Yorktown Patriots have a very deep roster, especially at the quarterback position, and my prediction is that quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1199699' first='Drew' last='Morgan'] reaches the top of their depth chart sooner rather than later.

2025 6'1 180 QB - [player_tooltip player_id='1231526' first='Johnny' last='Callow'] - Herndon

[player_tooltip player_id='1231526' first='Johnny' last='Callow'] can flat-out play football, and he's a quarterback who thrives in the chaos of a broken play. Callow possesses elite mobility and a very strong arm, therefore he's an absolute nightmare for any opposing defense at this level. His football IQ is one of the highest in all of Virginia, and, to me, that's why he's so successful at improvisation. [player_tooltip player_id='1231526' first='Johnny' last='Callow'] must be recognized with the best of the best in the state. I believe that he will lead Herndon to an outstanding overall record next season, and it wouldn't shock me at all if he earns All-Conference honors along the way.
