Recruiting News and Notes 5-6-23

We are quickly approaching the end of the school year. However, that does not mean the recruiting process is slowing down. The state of Arkansas has plenty of prospects making recruiting headlines this week. We have plenty of recruiting news this week to get caught up on from a week's worth of recruiting news. Let's get caught up on a busy week.   [player_tooltip player_id='207838' first='Gary' last='Rideout Jr']-Defensive Back-Benton-2024   One of the most athletic prospects in the class of 2024. He is a defensive back that has the ability to disrupt the passing game of the opponent. Rideout Jr is a defensive back that has no problem delivering a hit on opposing wide receivers. He has the talent to play on both sides of the ball. The talented Benton defensive back earned a scholarship offer from Alcorn State University. I expect an impressive season from the talented Benton defensive back.   [player_tooltip player_id='149539' first='Hunter' last='Marshall']-Offensive Line-Farmington-2024   The Farmington center is an extremely talented prospect that has flown under the radar over the past few months. He is extremely quick out of the stance and gets into the opposing defensive lineman quickly. Over the past few years, I have yet to see him deliver a bad snap to his quarterbacks. Earlier this week, the Farmington center earned a scholarship offer from Connecticut State. I look for Marshall to continue to open eyes this upcoming season.   [player_tooltip player_id='149606' first='Chandler' last='Laurent']-Linebacker-Pine Bluff-2024   The Pine Bluff roster is loaded with talent, and this is a roster that will open eyes this season. Laurent is a linebacker that covers the field well for the Zebras. He uses his speed well to defeat blocks and get into the opposing offensive backfield. I expect a strong season from Laurent this season. Laurent earned a scholarship offer from Arkansas Baptist University earlier in the week. He has the talent to earn plenty of scholarship offers this upcoming season.   Trey Lisle-Defensive Line-Fayetteville-2024   Trey Lisle is a defensive lineman that moves all over the defensive front for the Bulldogs. Uses a mix of power and strength to defeat blocks and completely disrupt the opposing offensive backfield. He is a difficult matchup for opposing offensive lines and he has the potential to blow up this season from a recruiting perspective. The Fayetteville defensive lineman earned a scholarship offer from Northwest Missouri State on Friday of this week. He is a prospect I look forward to seeing more of this season.   [player_tooltip player_id='314061' first='Brenden' last='Bennett']-Defensive Back-Bryant-2024   The Bryant Hornets continue to do an excellent job of producing talented defensive backs with the talent to play at the next level. Bennett has tremendous speed and does a great job of harassing opposing wide receivers. The Bryant defensive back has had a busy week from a recruiting perspective. Bennett earned scholarship offers from East Central University and Northwest Missouri State University. I expect him to have a breakout season in 2023.   [player_tooltip player_id='273053' first='Zric' last='Washington Jr']-Linebacker-Pine Bluff-2024   Washington Jr. is a linebacker that has the speed to range all over the field. He does an impressive job of fending off of blocks from opposing offensive linemen. Washington Jr. does a good job of playing both the run and the pass. He is a prospect that I expect to have a big season in 2023. Earlier in the week, he received a scholarship offer from Arkansas Baptist University. Keep an eye out for Washington Jr. this season.   [player_tooltip player_id='320933' first='CJ' last='Brown']-Athlete-Bentonville-2024   [player_tooltip player_id='320933' first='CJ' last='Brown'] is a versatile prospect that can play just about any position on the football field. From the wide receiver position, he is one of the most impressive prospects in the class of 2024. Brown is a wide receiver that can stretch the field and keep the defensive secondary honest. He has had a busy few weeks from a recruiting perspective. Brown set a commitment date of June 30th earlier in the week. Meanwhile, the Tennessee Volunteers extended a scholarship offer to Brown. He is a recruit to watch the recruiting battle for his services is heating up as the weather turns warmer.   [player_tooltip player_id='202575' first='Kane' last='Archer']-Quarterback-Greenwood-2026   Over the past year, [player_tooltip player_id='202575' first='Kane' last='Archer'] has seen his recruiting blow up. As we approach the summer months, his recruitment is showing no signs of slowing down. Earlier in the week, the Kentucky Wildcats extended a scholarship offer his way. The Greenwood quarterback has the arm strength and accuracy to see plenty of playing time on Saturdays in the future. He has the potential to have a monster season in 2023. Keep an eye on Archer as spring football heats up over the next few weeks.
