Top Running Backs from the PSR Showcase
Reeder, a product of Holy Trinity, left a good impression on me as I walked away from the camp. Although he was one of the stockier and more stoutly built RBs at the event, what my eyes saw were atypical of a back that fits such a physical description. Firstly, Reeder ran with tremendous balance as he ran like a man on a mission and was not easily knocked off of his track. Next he showed a degree of shiftiness I was not expecting. To the naked eye he profiled as a one-cut, plant-and-go runner; however, he showed that he could make multiple cuts to get loose. Finally, Reeder demonstrated some shiftiness during competition phases of the camp as well, making defenders miss in tight spaces.
Perhaps the best-built back in attendance, Pacheco has the three-down size and the skillset to match. He ran with great pad level, was quick to his spot, can stop on a dime, and made cuts that tore up the grass. Stir all this up and you have defenders looking like they are tripping over themselves as they dive in vain to stay in front of him. Pacheco also ran crisp routes and showed soft hands when route running. I do not recall Pacheco dropping a single pass. He looked real good all afternoon.
If you looked away for just a split second you may have missed him. Adonis White Adonis White 5’6″ | 160 lbs | RB West Orange | 2024 NJ was simply a blur out there. White’s most redeeming attribute was his acceleration. Like a Drake lyric, he went zero-to-100… real quick, reaching his top speed in short order with no intention to slow down. With the ball in his hands White moves around like he a running back in Madden, turning and bending corners easily without breaking a sweat. These two elements enabled White to create space like few others at the Showcase were able to.
I do not think Millville got the notice. This was a football showcase, not a track meet. It was a close call, but Dawkins might have been the fastest prospect from the running back pool and Millville’s traveling caravan as well. The rising freshman was a complete burner. I do not recall a linebacker or defensive back that was able to stay with him when he ran a route. The only shot defenders really had on him during run simulation was to force him towards the sideline if they could close the space differential in time. Dawkins is about as easy to catch in the open field as the wind blowing.
