This list is the most stacked of the two, and if I was college coach reading this, I would 100% give each one of these prospects a look, especially our WR MVP from Rapid City, who we saved the best for last in Part II of our wide receiver standouts. Have a look!
Quinten Poindexter Quinten Poindexter 6'0" | 140 lbs | ATH Elkton/Lake Benton | 2024 SD , Elkton-Lake Benton (SD) 2024 Twitter
- Quinten from my eyes, has significantly turned up his accelerator from when I evaluated him at the last Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase as this young man bunch of more fluidity in his 1v1 and testing reps than what I watched as he also ran an impressive 4.7 40 yard dash last Saturday in the Deen.
- He also showed off a more instinctive first step off the start of his route, and that set a steady tone to get separation early with some of his intermediate and deeper routes he showed off. The explosion levels are there for the taking for Quinten s who had a 9’2.5 broad jump on last Saturday.
- Quinten has excellent positional flexibility college coaches will like a bunch for the next-level, as this young man is certainly an athlete that has that versatility skillset locked in. This summer in my eyes, Quinten will need to grow with his agility, as he certainly has the speed but wherever college coaches want to line him up, their going to want to evaluate his change of direction more depth. This young man has good vision & ball tracking ability and has some solid upside up ahead as a prospect you will see on Saturdays.
Levi Pooley Levi Pooley 5'10" | 185 lbs | WR Fairmont | 2024 State MN , Fairmont (MN) 2024 Twitter
- Levi was member of my 1st Team All-Camp Team for wide receivers, as it felt whenever I made my several laps around the Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase I overheard college coaches raving about this young man, and from the reps and testing I watched it was easy to see why that was. Levi started his afternoon with excellent measurables for a slot-receiver, a 4.62 short shuttle and went 7.56 in his L-Drill as another Fairmont football prospect with pure athleticism.
- Levi showed off to be a very catchy route-runner and the burst within his short field speed, and showed off a wide receiver prospect that put some defensive backs on stilts with their due to his consistent go/stop/go trigger of speed that is built as a finished runner. Levi also showed off an enhanced catch radius for his 5’9 frame that if you didn’t know how tall he was, you would believe he was close to 6’0.
- I would not be surprised if Levi was one of the 2024 prospects from the Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase that is next-up to get his first offer, as I believe that time is coming soon.
Covin Wattier Covin Wattier 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR Centerville | 2024 State SD , Centerville (SD) 2024 Twitter
- Anytime as a prospect in any showcase setting you can catch our eyes more than once when making our circles around all the groups, you are doing something well and that was the case with Centerville’s Covin Wattier Covin Wattier 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR Centerville | 2024 State SD last Saturday.
- It started with his very impressive numbers which went 4.65 (best in WR group) in the 40 yard dash and 9’0 in the broad jump being his most notable numbers. Covin showed off some excellent agility with his cuts on his routes, as he showed ample twitch and release and got great-sized separation with that release.
- Covin was certainly up my list as being a finalist for WR MVP and from going from a prospect that was a first look from a couple weeks ago to high on my list from the WR group last Saturday, you can assure that Covin will be on my next update of our 2024 South Dakota rankings.
Teagan Coonrod Teagan Coonrod 5'9" | 180 lbs | ATH Bishop Ryan Catholic | 2025 State ND , Minot Bishop Ryan (ND) 2025 Twitter
- Teagan was our WR MVP from December Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase and certainly used that fuel from 2022 to show off another impressive performance last weekend again in Aberdeen as now a top 20 2025 prospect in the state of North Dakota, and now back to back 1st-Team All-Camp Team honors.
- One of the biggest tools amongst prospects testing numbers I look for is consistency, and Teagan was very consistent in the 40 yard dash (4.69 twice) and had the best flying 10 in the wide receiver group. Not to mention, that Teagan since December has continued to get more polished as a route-runner as he showed off an excellent football IQ knowing exactly how to maneuver with his change of direction on his route and evaluating before his rep the best angle to take to get separation based on where the secondary was lined up.
- Teagan was also on my hot list for WR MVPs, but just barely missed the nod however still had another exceptional showing at the Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase. Going to be fun to see how much more Teagan can progress in his next two seasons at Minot Bishop Ryan as I love the work ethic of this kid from top to bottom.
Peyton Young Peyton Young 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Rapid City St. Thomas More | 2024 State SD , Rapid City St. Thomas More (SD) 2024 Twitter
- Last but not least from the wide receiver group at the Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase in Aberdeen we meet our WR MVP in Rapid City St. Thomas More 2024 prospect Peyton Young Peyton Young 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Rapid City St. Thomas More | 2024 State SD .
- I talked about how much I love consistency in testing numbers, and Peyton was the definition of that theory last Saturday as he went 4.72 (twice) in the 40 yard dash, 4.59 in the shuttle 9’5 (twice) in the broad jump and 7.4 in the L-Drill in might I add not great combine weather for testing. He tested extremely well, but also showed how versatile he was with his route-running as on every rep I watched Peyton last Saturday he ran them with great creativity and excellent finish to find his opening of separation even if it wasn’t on the first look he never gave up on his routes from my eyes could gauge.
- Peyton is certainly a WR in our 2024 class that I would offer before his summer heats up with camp season, because I have a gut feeling he’s going to show off some excellent skillsets that will wow college coaches even more this summer wishing they had offered or given him interest sooner!
