2022 Recap:

Head Coach: Bryan Strohl

Cocalico went 10-5 last year including a PIAA District 3 Championship. Cocalico started 3-4 on the year but then caught fire and won 7 straight games to win the Championship. They were the road warriors in the playoffs winning 4 straight away games and winning the Championship. Cocalico was the 12th seed, so winning a PIAA District 3 Championship was a huge accomplishment.

Coaching Update:

Bryan Strohl just completed his 3rd season as Head Coach. He replaced Dave Gingrich who was Cocalico's Head Coach for 16 years. Strohl spent 15 years coaching with Gingrich so was a natural replacement. He has gone 20-13 since he took over including that District Championship last year. Strohl has continued the tradition of running the Veer Offense at Cocalico. It is a scheme advantage for them since most teams do not run that offense. Strohl has done a nice job keeping the tradition going.

Quote from Head Coach Bryan Strohl:

"Our 2022 team turned a rough start (3-4 after 7 games) into a storybook season that ended with a district championship before losing to eventual state champ Pine-Richland in the state semifinals. Our team bonded and grew up quickly, which led to an amazing turnaround and playoff run. We graduated several quality seniors who were major contributors, especially on defense, but we also return a lot of quality student-athletes, who will hopefully lead our team this fall".

2023 Season Outlook:

Cocalico graduates tons of really good football players off last year's District Title run, including lineman [player_tooltip player_id='93007' first='Chuckie' last='Drain'] who was dominant on both sides of the ball. Cocalico does return many players including their fullback Sam Steffey, their quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1131225' first='Josh' last='Myer'] and their running back [player_tooltip player_id='1105939' first='Aaryn' last='Longenecker']. I expect Cocalico to be competitive again in Section 4 and be in the mix for the playoffs again. Running the Veer Offense is a scheme advantage for Cocalico, so they always will have a shot in every game. Coach Strohl also greatly motivates his players and has continued to build a good football program at Cocalico.
