Ohio Preseason Spotlight: Guernsey County (2024’s)

Hastings plays on both offense and defense but his ceiling is likely highest on defense at linebacker. At 6'4, he has great height for the position and is actively working to increase his weight and fill out his long frame needed to play the position. Hastings also appeared to be quite athletic on his junior highlight reel and has the rare combination of size and athleticism that makes him a very promising prospect. He has the length and speed to be able to play on the outside where he can rush the passer while also being athletic enough to cover out in space. As he keeps getting stronger he will eventually be a complete player at linebacker and has reached the 200 pounds range three months before his senior season. Parry has very similar size as Hastings and has a similar story. He is 6'3 and athletic but will need to continue adding weight and strength to play the linebacker position at 185 pounds. He also starts on offense and can play a number of positions ranging from running back to tight end or receiver and is also his team's long snapper. In 2022, Parry rushed for just under 500 yards averaging nearly 6 yards per carry while totaling 71 tackles on defense. Eagon is an extremely athletic player who could play on either side of the ball at the next level. He shines at both receiver and defensive back and could likely play running back in college as well. At 5'10 160, he won't blow you away with his size but he more than makes up for it with his overall athleticism. The first play on his junior highlight film will make you sit up in your seat as he shows his twitch with a double spin move and houses a catch that looked like it should've been a minimal gain. That game-breaking ability has already put him on college radars and recently received his first offer from D2 Mercyhurst (PA). Eagon is also a standout track star where he recently qualified for the Ohio State Track Meet. His versatility makes him a very intriguing prospect who is also a deadly threat in the return game. Johnson is a very good track athlete and he has had a prolific career so far. He was the OVAC 4A 200m champion this year along with being a key component of his team's 4x200 and 4x100 relay championships. His 4x200m relay team recently set a Cambridge High School record with a time of 1:29.58 qualifying them for the Ohio Track and Field State Championship meet. This speed translates to the football field as a cornerback and could certainly play at the next level if he chooses to play football. At 5'9 160, Johnson isn't the biggest but with the amount of athleticism he has he makes up for it plenty. Although most of his film is on defense, there's no doubt he could play some slot receiver on offense and could return kicks and punts. He runs in that mid-4-second 40-yard dash range and if he gets the ball in his hands he's a threat to take it the distance each time. Ogle has pretty good size at 6'1 175 and he uses it well to high-point balls and make tough contested catches. He does a nice job timing his jumps and beating defenders to the ball. Ogle does a great job catching with his hands and not relying on his body to secure catches. He has adequate speed to create separation at times and enough to make some plays after the catch. Ogle can both stretch the field or take screen passes making him a versatile receiver. His bigger body can cause defenders to miss tackles and he can get tough extra yards.
