Continue ReadingThe KC Varsity Combines have become one of the top events for athletes in Kansas and Missouri to attend during the off-season. Several hundred athletes have come through the two KC Varsity Combine events thus far this spring, with one more still to go. As far as the fastest 40-yard dash times, three of the top five times from 2027 prospects came from athletes on the 2027 PRZ Next National Watchlist. Take a look below.
Hayes, who will be off to Olathe South High School in Kansas this fall, showed off impressive straight line speed at the KC Combine earlier this month. Out of the nearly 50 class of 2027 prospects that have attended the exposure event, he has the fastest overall 40-yard dash time with a 4.87. As a wide receiver prospect, it’s encouraging to see that he finished with the third fastest 20-yard split, as well.
Already holding a place on the 2027 PRZ Next National Watchlist, Thompson went out and confirmed with testing numbers what we already know–he’s a fast, talented player. The future Lee’s Summit North student-athlete put on a show during testing. Thompson finished with the second best 40-yard dash time amongst 2027 prospects with a 4.9. He also finished with the best, or tied for the best, in the 10-yard split (1.6) and shuttle (4.2). The Bronco-to-be also had top 10 finishes in the broad jump (98), vertical (28.2) and L-Cone with a 7.44.
Another Kansas prospect already on the 2027 PRZ Next National Watchlist, Sheldon Kight Sheldon Kight 6’2″ | 170 lbs | WR Rockhurst | 2027 MO was a head-turner at the KC Varsity Combine. Up to nearly 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds, the future Rockhurst High School student-athlete looks physically impressive. He is currently the third tallest 2027 prospect to attend a combine thus far and also had the second longest wingspan at 75 & 3/4″. Essentially meaning he can hold a Steph Curry cut out with his finger tips. He also finished with a 4.9 in the forty.

Cash Lewandowski
Lewandowski has been a prospect that made the most of his pre-high school career in athletics. The 5-foot-8, 175-pound muscle-bound athlete was a jack of all trades on the football field, runs the 100m and 200m on the track and was the Kansas State Champion in wrestling at 165 pounds. Before taking his well-rounded athletic ability to Blue Valley Southwest High School in the fall, he did his thing at the KC Varsity Combine with a top-10 result in every combine drill, except the broad jump where he finished top-12. The biggest take away from his combine scores was his ability to start fast and finish fast. He was one of only two 2027 prospects to have a top-10 time at a 10-yard split, 20-yard split and the entire 40 yard dash.
Augustus rounds out the top five class of 2027 prospects with the fastest 40-yard dash time at the KC Varsity Combine, with a time of 5 flat. He’s also the third athlete off the 2027 PRZ Next National Watchlist to finish in that top five. Surprisingly, Augustus didn’t finish in the top 10 of any other combine drill, but that’s why the game is played rather than on a spreadsheet. He has big time ability and measured in taller and heavier than his last official measurement. The wide receiver/defensive back is up to nearly 160 pounds and just about 6-feet tall.
