Over this past weekend Central Washington hosted a camp at Mountain View High School in Meridian. Central Washington’s coaching staff ran a combine camp where athletes tested in a multitude of drills including 40 yard dash, shuttle, broad jump, and position drills then finished the camp with one on one competition. Here are some of the camp MVPs from this past weekends camp:
West-Baranco has had a really good off season, the Melba prospect is a long smooth athlete who is constantly improving his technique. He has one of the best camps overall and the Central Washington staff stated he was the most coachable kid out at the camp. He was dominant in one on ones showing his elite catch radius while also showing off his improved route running. He was able to compete for 50/50 balls as he constantly plays above the rim. West-Baranco is primed for a huge year for Melba and with his ability to dominate his competition regardless of classification its wont be a surprise to hear his name called often.

Knell is another good looking in prospects coming from the football factory that is Bishop Kelly. Knell showed smooth hip in and out of his transitions at DB during the camp and was a force to be reckoned with in man to man coverage. He showed the ability to really mirror receivers in their route and with a quick break he was able to get to the majority of football thrown his way. We really liked how he competed matching himself up against some of the top player at the camp and constantly won those battles. We think big things are going to happen for Knell this season and he could really turn out to be a major bright spot of the Knights this year.
Crook once again showed why he is one of the top returning lineman in the state. With quick feet and strong hands he was near impossible to beat in one on ones during the camp. After playing in such a run heavy offense it was good to see how much of an improved pass blocker he was during the camp. One of the most complete offensive lineman we have seen during the camp cycle this year. He is one of the strongest players on film that we have seen and the sky’s the limit for the junior who is going to be one of the top offensive lineman in the state this season for Meridian.

Highlights
Moriarty has quietly had a really good camp season as well where he shined at the National Preps combine in Seattle early this year and now winning an MVP award at the Central Washington camp. Moriarty has a really natural feel at the linebacker position and can make plays all over the field. One of his most improved abilities that we saw during the camp was his ability to match up with tight ends and running backs. His ability to cover really showed up during the camp where he was constantly breaking up passes throughout the day. He had some major players in front of him last season for the Mavericks but its the seniors time to lead the defense and we are expecting a huge season from him. He is going to be one to watch for sure during this football season and a name to keep an eye on for sure.
