Unlike many other offseason linemen camps, Allegiance events feature the linemen wearing pads and soft helmets. One-on-one reps at Allegiance camps are closer to real game reps than any offseason program I have seen.
Here are the offensive linemen that had standout performances last Saturday:
MVPs
Foisia was the interior offensive line MVP at both Allegiance showcases this spring.
He has great footwork and fast feet. He always keeps his hips square and between the defender and the quarterback. He is strong and can stop bullrushes and has the quickness to stay level with speedier rushers.
He is having a great offseason and should be getting some offers soon. If he were three inches taller, he would be getting much more recruiting attention, but it will come soon for him.
NEXT FOUR
Daxton Christman-Gourley Daxton Christman-Gourley 6’6″ | 260 lbs | OL Mission Viejo | 2024 State CA is a massive guy and is another guy who looked better this time around than the first Allegiance showcase.
He sets well and has a strong initial punch. There was some inconsistency with his footwork: there were some reps where his feet were quick and others where he couldn’t keep up when the defender changed directions.
Christman-Gourley took reps at center and tackle and played better at tackle. He has the frame to add some size for the next level and has offers from UNLV, Northern Arizona, San Diego State and Colorado State.
I thought Sorenson could easily have been in the top five of the day.
He does a good job anticipating the defensive lineman’s moves and adjusts quickly in the middle of the rep. He does a good job using his inside foot to cut off defenders trying to rush on the inside.
Sometimes he gives up a little too much ground to the speedy edge rushers, but he is young and can fix that with more playing time. Sorenson already has offers from Michigan and UNC Charlotte.
Saturday was my first time seeing Williams in person and I thought he could have been a MVP of the day.
His footwork at tackle is solid, but he is likely a guard at the college level. He does a good job anchoring to stop the bullrush and keeping his hips between the defender and the quarterback. He cuts off the inside rush moves and knows when to bury the defender when he over-commits.
Williams does a great job keeping his chest up and back flat. He has a lot of upside and can play anywhere in Orange Lutheran’s loaded offensive line.
Principe does a really good job getting a wide base and keeping his back flat against power and speed rushers.
He had good hand placement and showed he is strong enough to not give up too much ground. He was one of the better interior lineman at replacing his hands quickly when the defender would hand fight.
