There is a wide range of prospects here from guys who already are being recruited to those early in their careers with limited tape. Either way, these names are names to watch and debut in our most recent rankings update.
Still young in his football career with only two seasons ever playing football Marques Garrett Marques Garrett 6’3″ | 240 lbs | DL Fairport | 2025 State NY has already made a very strong impact on the field for Fairport. Garrett picked up his first offer from Buffalo this fall and he his tape showed some really serious promise. Size, speed, and explosiveness are huge aspects to Garrett’s game and as he continues to develop his fundamentals and pass rush moves his physical ability alone make him one of the top prospects in the state.
Xavier Ali Xavier Ali 6’3″ | 240 lbs | DL Walt-Whitman | 2025 State NY out of Walt Whitman is one of the strongest prospects in the entire state, at 6’3 245lbs Ali has the ideal build for the next level and his burst off the ball and very developed pass rush moves make him one of the most dangerous threats in the class of 2025. Ali has a ton of power and a really strong base so he can push guys into the backfield consistently. One of the best combinations of power and measurables in this class.
Highlights
There is no doubt that Tyler Davis Tyler Davis 6’4″ | 225 lbs | DL Erasmus Hall | 2025 State NY is one of the top candidates to be rising up these rankings with his new home at Erasmus Hall. With the standard of development for players being set by Erasmus Hall in New York they surely will turn Davis from a raw athletic prospect with good measurables and flashes on tape to a more refined product on tape with very developed pass rush moves. It may be some time before we see that because the group of 2024s currently at E-hall but Davis is a name to watch through the fall.
Lorenzo Riddick Lorenzo Riddick 6’4″ | 215 lbs | DL Long Island Lutheran | 2025 State NY is a flashy prospect and has some of the most developed pass rush moves in the class. At 170lbs there is a concern about his playing weight and how that translates to the next level. That being said, you turn on the tape and you would imagine that coaches would be comfortable playing Riddick at a lighter weight because of his length, quickness, and consistent ability to win with multiple different pass rush moves.
Highlights
Michael Harris Michael Harris 6’3″ | 260 lbs | DL St. Francis | 2025 State NY is another prospect who with limited film was able to really showcase some very promising traits. A really quick interior defensive lineman who has good strength, speed, and length Harris has all the physical attributes you want in a defensive tackle. Harris is a really big fall season coming up and looks to be in line for a starting role in the graduation of one of the top DL from Western New York last season.
A true nose tackle type of player Zaire Grant Zaire Grant 6’1″ | 250 lbs | DL St. John The Baptist | 2025 State NY just eats blocks better than nearly every defensive lineman in New York. Grant moves well for a body his size and does a good job of shedding off blocks to make a play on ball carriers as they get through the line of scrimmage. Grant has limited upside as a pass rusher because of his size and play still but his ability to get blockers moving backwards open up holes for himself and other defenders to get into the backfield.
There is not a defensive lineman who physically has more potential than Miron Gurman Miron Gurman 6’7″ | 245 lbs | DL Spencerport | 2025 State NY . Gurman does a good job of getting low and using power even though he towers over most of the offensive lineman he faces. Gurman has some solid pass rush moves and knows how to win around the edge or inside. Versatile in where he can align and where he can win Gurman is one of the prospects in New York with the highest ceiling. Gurman can still get much better with his upfield burst being a key trait to watch going forward.
Dylan Spano Dylan Spano 6’2″ | 225 lbs | DL Bayport-Blue Point | 2025 State NY is one of those players who just has the instincts of a great player. Spano is always making plays around the ball and is consistently shining on tape with an elite motor and really good skills on the defensive line. Spano has solid pass rush moves but wins with his intensity and power more often than he loses reps. Spano is a really solid player who with more refinement to his skillset could turn into a really strong prospect at the next level.

Isaiah Gittens Isaiah Gittens 6’1″ | 230 lbs | DL Kellenberg | 2025 State NY is a really well rounded prospect and really polished for a 2025. He does a good job of defending against the run and as a pass rusher and shows really solid consistency. Gittens taking that next step and developing more strength and quickness in order to become dominante is a really possibility. Gittens is likely the most consistent player of our new additions and has the tools for the next level. However, there is some room to grow as an athlete and raise his ceiling has a prospect at the next level.
