Prep Redzone has all the details…
Kyshon Kenney – Sandy Creek
A new Atlanta-area receiver to know in the 2024 class, the 2022 state-champion out of Sandy Creek may not have lit up the stat sheet last year, but he clearly has enough talent to play at the next level. A quick, shift receiver who knows how to make defenders miss, Kenney was 4th on the team in receiving last year but should see his role increase in a big way with their top two leading receivers last year now graduated. Sandy Creek will need more weapons to step up at receiver, so look for the 6-foot-0 170-pounder to see plenty of passes come his way as a senior in 2023. He earned offers from Valdosta State and Morgan State recently, and they likely won’t bee the only two.
Dylan Williams Dylan Williams 6'2" | 190 lbs | WR Roswell | 2024 State GA – Roswell
Once knows as a true under “the radar” wideout in 6A, Williams earned a big offer from Marshall this week and could see more come his way throughout the rest of the 2023 off-season. Williams had goos size at 6-foot-2 190-pounds and is coming off a strong junior season where he helped lead the Hornets to a deep playoff run. The rising senior is a big target for quarterback KJ Smith is can be an important vertical weapon down the field. He shows the ability to run a crisp route and displays impressive body control in the air when attempting to come down with an awkward catch. He shows promising ball skills and has a knack for getting behind defenses in single coverage. Currently ranked as the No. 191 prospect in Georgia, Williams caught 29 passes last year for 474 yards and seven touchdowns. He was a big-play threat every time he touched the ball and should have an even bigger role in the Hornets offense as a senior in 2023.
A multi-sport standout and STILL one of the more underrated receivers not only in Cobb County, but across the 7A classification, Sonderman quietly had one of the best seasons of any receiver in the area as a junior last fall. A speedy receiver at 6-foot-1 170-pounds, Sonderman is a terrific overall athlete who also makes a big impact for the Walton Raider baseball team. As a playmaking wideout, the rising senior was a reliable vertical threat for QB Jeremy Hecklinski Jeremy Hecklinski 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Walton | 2024 State GA who flashed big-play ability on a weekly basis. He’s faster than defenders realize and had no problem flying down the field past opposing defensive backs. He’s also a dependable threat after the catch who showed impressive burst and the ability to break tackles down the field, As a junior last fall, Sonderman caught 42 passes for 744 yards and 11 touchdowns. He found the end-zone as a receiver in eight different games last season and in five of his final six games. His biggest game of the season came in a win over North Paulding where he caught seven passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns. He recently earned new offers from UMASS and Wofford.
Travien Watson – Gainesville
If you’re looking for a receiver coming off a breakout spring, then Gainesville wideout Travien Watson is your guy. The playmaking two-way prospect shined all throughout Gainesville’s spring scrimmage against a talented Alpharetta team, catching nine passes for 157 yards and three touchdowns in the big win. He showed great footwork, quick feet, and the ability to create separations. He can go off script and find ways to get open when the play breaks down, and he has a knack for getting behind the secondary down the field. He appears to have easy D1 talent and it was on full display this spring. He has enough talent to be a true No. 1 receiver for Gainesville this season, and it looks like he’s bound for a gigantic senior season in the fall. His stock is rising, and he could see more D1 offers come his way sooner than later.
