<p>Some of the best West Texas high school football players don't necessarily play for the biggest schools. Some, in fact, play for schools in Classes 3A and 2A. Here are some of the small school standouts in West Texas:</p>

<p><strong>Logan Addison, New Home</strong>: Addison was showered with postseason honors after a tremendous junior season for Class 2A New Home. He was named District MVP, First-Team All-State by the Texas Sports Writers Association and the Small-School Player of the Year by Lone Star Varsity after finishing with a staggering 247 tackles from his MLB position. </p>

<p><strong>Cristian Castro, Sterling City</strong>: Castro is one of the most dynamic dual threat quarterbacks in West Texas. However, some folks probably don't know much about him because he plays for 2A Sterling City, which reached the second round of the Class 2A, D2 playoffs in 2022. Castro has been invited to camps at North Texas, Miami (OH), Dartmouth and more. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='933806' first='Samuel' last='Colt Hill'], Littlefield</strong>: Besides have one of the best names in West Texas high school football, Hill is also a great player. He possesses plenty of speed, blazing the 40 in 4.41 seconds. He just returned from Junior Day at UTPB and has been invited to camp by North Texas. He also plays baseball and runs track for Littlefield, so he's been extremely busy. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='413043' first='Jonah' last='Escalante'], Denver City</strong>: Escalante is one of the top small school quarterbacks in West Texas. He led 3A Denver City to the district championship in 2022. He's been invited to camp/Junior Day by Texas State, North Texas, Eastern New Mexico and UTPB. He has earned First-Team All-District honors for two consecutive years.</p>

<p><strong>Jayden Gonzales, Brownfield</strong>: Gonzales is a superb defensive back for the Cubs. The Lubbock Avalanche Journal named him to the Super 22 team. He helped lead Brownfield to an 8-3 record in 2022. </p>

<p><strong>Jaxson Hoel, Abernathy</strong>: Hoel has great speed (4.5 in 40) and he finished his junior campaign with 87 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 9 pass breakups. He is regarded as one of the top rising senior safeties in the State going into the 2023 season.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='618298' first='Braylen' last='Norman'], Highland Park</strong>: The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Norman is one of the most heavily recruited small school players in West Texas. Norman has good size (6-foot-2, 170 pounds) that he utilized last season on his way to 70 receptions for over 1,200 yards. He's excellent on long range passes but exhibits the moves to get open in the intermediate passing game as well. </p>

<p><strong>Cannon Reed, Shallowater</strong>: Shallowater loves to run the football with Reed being one of TWO 1,000-yard rushers for the Mustangs in 2022. Reed rushed for a team-high 1,093 yards and 15 TD on 173 carries as Shallowater finished 10-2 and advanced to the second round of the Class 3A, D1 playoffs. </p>

<p><strong>Daniel Sianez, Muleshoe</strong>: Sianez has been one of the top running backs in the Panhandle over the past two years, rushing for close to 1,900 yards and 14 touchdowns, including 1,133 yards as a junior in 2022. Muleshoe (8-4 in 2022) intends to lean heavily on Sianez in 2023 as they seek their second consecutive winning season under head coach Jason Richards. Sianez is also an excellent track athlete, finishing third at the 3A state meet in the 400.</p>

<p><strong>Hector Zamora, Lamesa</strong>: Zamora is an outstanding dual threat QB and MLB for Lamesa. Offensively, he threw for 372 yards and 6 TD while rushing for 103 yards last season. Defensively, he made 68 tackles with 3 QB hurries.</p>
