Who are they?
Let’s take a look…
Creighton Horst – LB – Statesboro
The Statesboro Blue Devils are known as one of the toughest and most physical programs in South Georgia, and they’ve got a tough, bruising linebacker in Creighton Horst who is coming off a very strong junior season. The 6-foot-1 220-pounder is tough as nails and proved it time and time again last year. A quick, instinctive linebacker who brings a physical element to the Blue Devil defense, Horst has a compact frame and gives everything he has on every snap. A true difference maker on defense who took over games at times, the Southeast Georgia native made at least 11+ tackles in four games last year as a junior. He made 17 tackles against Effingham County, 16 tackles against Wayne County, and 18 tackles against Burke County. He’s an old-school linebacker who has no problem throwing his head in the trenches to make a tackle. Horst was one of the most productive linebackers in the area last year, finishing the season with 93 tackles, 7 TFLs and two sacks.
An impressive Middle Georgia linebacker who is still one of the more underrated linebackers in the 2024 class, Harris is coming off an excellent junior season for Jones County, making 87 tackles and five TFLs. He’s physical hitter who can strike and make a sure tackle in the open field. He can also rush the passer when he needs too, and led an stout Jones County defense in tackles last year. One of the more productive junior linebackers not only in 5A last year, but across Middle Georgia, the Gray native showed good instincts against the run and knows how to leave a bruise on the ball carrier. He’s versatile, athletic, and knows how to elude blocks in order to reach the ball-carrier, showing an impressive motor on a consistent basis. The 6-foot-1 220-pounder made 11+ tackles in three games last year with his best game coming in week one against Northside where he made 13 tackles and one fumble recovery.
Kendarious Brown – Hiram
A speedy linebacker from West Georgia, Brown was a true playmaker for the Hiram defense in 2022 as a junior, making 69 tackles and six TFLs on the season. An imposing defender, Brown was always a threat to deliver a massive hit on the ball-carrier last year. He’s a quick, twitchy linebacker who can chase down running backs with ease, and when he’s not blocked properly, he’s going to deliver a monster hit when he’s coming at full speed. He may not be the biggest linebacker in the area, but he was one of the most consistent and productive linebackers in all of West Georgia last year in the 2024 class. He loves the game, doesn’t shy away from contact, and a true weapon defensively. His best game of the season statistically came in a tough loss against Dalton where he made 10 tackles and three TFLs.
