Mission Viejo High was the place to be for scouts and media last weekend and the players delivered with great performances.
Here were the defensive linemen who had standout performances at the camp Sunday:
MVPs
Every scout in attendance was raving about Stewart and 247Sports named him the overall “Alpha Dog” of the event.
He’s the best freshman defensive lineman I’ve ever seen in a camp setting. He gets off the ball very fast and uses his long arms to gain leverage over offensive linemen.
Stewart looked dominant against some of the best offensive linemen in the west who are older than him. It was his first time in California and he certainly made an impression.
Parker has one of the best bullrushes in the area and he’s tough to keep out of the backfield.
He has slimmed down a little bit believe it or not and showed his improved quickness in the individual drills. He’s also in better shape than last year and didn’t show signs of fatigue despite getting a lot of reps.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Cunningham looked quick and strong after battling some injuries in the fall. He had the best bull rush during the one-on-ones and replaces his hands quickly to throw moves.
He was already invited to the Under Armour All-American game and was one of the top performers Sunday.
Highlights
Onyeagoro represented the LA City Section well and was one of the top defensive linemen on Sunday.
He has good speed off the edge and has the strength to drive guys back with power moves. He’s a really good athlete that could be one of the best defensive players in the City Section next season.
Highlights
Bulabalavu was near the top of every defensive category in San Diego last season for a lower level Army-Navy team.
I was interested in seeing how he would compete against some of the top offensive linemen in the area and he did a nice job. He is quick and is very strong for being only 250 pounds.
Moe was one of the MVPs at the Allegiance Camp last weekend and he performed well on Sunday as well.
He does a good job knocking the offensive lineman back with a strong punch and then hitting a speed move. He is elite with his hands.
James (Simi) Campbell
James (Simi) Campbell
Campbell was the best “under the radar” defensive lineman at the event.
I had not seen or heard much about him but he won some one-on-one reps against very good offensive linemen. He has a good motor and is a solid athlete.
