Coverage of the PRZ NE/IA Prospect Tour continues with my standout players from the showcase. There were several standout players that made my list, so I’ll start with these 5 ballers.
Harper Rutan Harper Rutan 6'1" | 225 lbs | DL MIllard South | 2025 State NE | 2025 | DL | Millard South | 6’1″ 210 lbs
Those Millard South D-linemen, I tell ya! Sophomore defensive end Harper Rutan Harper Rutan 6'1" | 225 lbs | DL MIllard South | 2025 State NE was a player that constantly grabbed my attention at the showcase. He was especially impressive in 1v1s, where he displayed an intense motor and great competitive drive. He’s a lengthy player that can use that to his advantage and create separation at the line. Harper does a great job bending when coming off the edge. When lined up head-on with a defender, Rutan does a great job exploding out of his stance and using his hands to disengage from blockers. Solid power in his hips and hands. Harper has the tools to become one of the top pass rushers in his class, especially as he continues filling out his frame. Huge stock-riser!
Gage Wolter Gage Wolter 5'10" | 255 lbs | OL Beatrice | 2024 State NE | 2024 | OL/DL | Beatrice | 5’10” 255 lbs
Gage was a player that I was looking forward to checking out in person, and he more than delivered. Wolter was solid in all aspects of the camp, showing off his sneaky good footwork/quickness in the combine drills and his toughness in 1v1s. He had reps at both offensive and defensive line, but was especially dominant at OL. One of Wolter’s biggest assets is how tough he is to push off his anchor. He moves very well in all directions. Gage has the lower and upper body strength to take on power rushers while possessing quick feet and the ability to reset in a flash against speed rushers. Uses his leverage very well and straight stonewalled several defenders. His shuttle drill time of 4.68 was the best among OL and his 8.06 L-drill also made the top three. As draft analysts would say after an impressive combine showing… “this guy made some money today.”
Elon Washington Elon Washington 5'6" | 125 lbs | WR Bellevue East | 2026 State NE | 2026 | WR | Bellevue East | 5’4″ 133 lbs
Elon was one of the smaller competitors at the showcase, but that didn’t stop him from dominating and taking home WR MVP honors. Washington was catching several looks during position drills, displaying top-tier preciseness with his footwork and explosiveness coming in and out of his breaks. Washington has great hands and does a great job following through the catch process to secure the ball. He then turned it up a notch when 1v1s came. Elon does an excellent job creating separation and runs very clean routes. He is already showing a high football IQ with his use of different releases to beat press coverage and win at the line. 4.3 shuttle drill and 7.35 L-drill put numbers were great marks for the youngster.
Caden Frey Caden Frey 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE Red Cloud / Frey Family Academy | 2024 State NE | 2024 | TE | Red Cloud | 6’5″ 200 lbs
Caden is a player that catches your attention right off the bat, standing at 6’5″ with long arms and a huge catch radius. He did a great job using his size to create mismatches in 1v1s and can elevate to make plays above defender’s heads. Frey also showed the ability to adjust to the ball to make catches. There are still a few little things that Caden can work on, like his footwork, but he definitely has the measurables and hands to be a great option at the collegiate level. Caden showed out in the shuttle and L-drill with times of 4.44 and 7.53, showing he can move for a big guy. He also ended the camp with TE MVP honors.
Connor Cook Connor Cook 6'9" | 305 lbs | OL Omaha North | 2025 State NE | 2025 | OL | Omaha North | 6’9″ 330 lbs
Connor is another player whose sheer size catches your attention. The tallest competitor at the event, standing 6’9″, Connor Cook Connor Cook 6'9" | 305 lbs | OL Omaha North | 2025 State NE gave us all a glimpse of the promising tackle we’ve been waiting to see on the field. Connor has dealt with injuries in his first two seasons, but Cook was all gas at the Prospect Tour showcase. Connor looked impressive as a pass blocker, using his power and length to keep defenders at bay. Even as a taller player, he did a solid job not getting too high in his stance and maintaining good positioning. Some rust showed in a few moments, but overall Connor did very well against some great competition. Makes sense why Power 5 programs have been inquiring about the Viking’s prospect. Get ready to see more of this beast next season!
