The state of Mississippi has a ton of football talent from youth ball to the college level and beyond. Despite it not always being top of mind when it comes to states that produce football talent (like Texas, Georgia, Florida and California) the numbers paint a clear story. Citing NFL rosters from this past September, the Magnolia State has the 16th most active players in the NFL, with 36. A deeper look at the numbers reveals that Mississippi is third when looking at NFL players per capita, trailing only Georgia and Louisiana. The bottom line is that talent does live in the 'Sipp and here are five class of 2027 prospects that are emerging as a potential next wave.

Was most productive this past season in situations where he had a runway to be at full speed when he got the hands. Was particularly dangerous on End-around plays, where he could get to the edge and beat defenses in a foot race.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_player":["766493"],"_player_evaluations_1_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"Pugh is a teammate of [player_tooltip player_id='766492' first='Jaylan' last='Ewing'], and the pair is just part of a talented 2027 class heading to Baldwyn High School in the fall. Pugh jumps out immediately on film due to his size, listed at an unverified 6-foot-5 and 280 pounds. Played b0th defensive tackle and right offensive tackle this past season. Room for improvement on a lot of fronts, but showed decent feet in an offense that was heavy on counters and using linemen to pull.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["781039"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"Overall a very impressive athlete that has been dunking a basketball for the better part of two years and just happens to play quarterback, too. At 6-foot and 155-pounds, Hutchins has a build and frame to work with, as he get set to begin his high school career at Adams County Christian School. Is a threat to burn defenses with his legs, but also has a live arm. Throwing motion and fundamentals of the position have considerable room for improvement, but checks a lot of boxes in terms of potential.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_player":["781075"],"_player_evaluations_3_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"Promising running back/linebacker/strong safety prospect coming out of Florence, Mississippi, just outside Jackson. A multi-sport athlete also playing basketball, that plays with a determined edge in both sports. On the gridiron, his film gives me the sense that he gets just as much satisfaction from blocking than he does toting the rock. Good-looking athlete that is listed at an unverified 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds. Actually got some varsity time as an eighth-grader this past year on a McLaurin High School team that finished just 1-9.","_player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_4_player":["781123"],"_player_evaluations_4_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"I'm a big fan of the toughness and physicality Dunn Jr. brings to the offensive line unit. Based off the film I've seen of Dunn Jr., he's a hardhat and lunch pail kind of kid that bullies the opposition with consistent effort on each player. Primarily played left tackle this past season for the Lake Cormorant Middle School Gators, helping to lead their eighth-grade team to a 5-2 record on the season. Is listed at an unverified 6-foot and 250 pounds and shows an advanced knowledge of leverage. Plays with a powerful, squatty base and doesn't over-extend. In my opinion, looks like he could become a really good interior offensive linemen or defensive tackle as he progresses.","_player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":5,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-643eae5396408"} /-->
