Continue ReadingTuaoa is a versatile LB who lines up as an inside or outside backer. He moves well both forward and laterally and can be a pass-rush force coming through the inside or around the outside. He has a wide stance with good shin angles allowing him to react quickly to run reads, where he has a penchant for meeting the ballcarrier at the line. He’s incredibly patient and can keep his feet moving in one spot, but rarely lets a runner cross his face either; he’ll explode and run with them, sideline to sideline if he has to. He has a big and stocky build without sacrificing speed and highlighting his explosive power. Tuaoa recently picked up his first D1 offer from Air Force and looks ready to do big things as a senior after padded offseason work. He should pick up several more big offers as he leads Curtis this year.
Leapai is a twitchy ILB who helps bring quick pressure up the middle. He’s great walking up from depth and caused 13 TFLs as he blew through the line a ton last year. He’s also good in pass coverage as his speed and quickness allow him to cover tons of ground. He uses his leverage well, as he has great balance and stays on his feet as he drives through his tackles. He accelerates through contact and will lay the hurt on anyone who doesn’t want to hit as much as him. Leapai recently received his first offer from Friends University and accepted a Junior Day invite to Central Washington, and schools may get in line one after another to offer the athletic LB now.
Harste is a sure-handed WR with a great blend of tools and smarts that will propel him to succeed at the next level. For starters, he runs a variety of routes and adds nuance to each one, with a great feel for shielding the ball away from defenders. He’s fleet footed and smooth coming in and out of breaks, and his speed shows up on tape both in short and long bursts. He’s unpredictable after the catch and racks up tons of yards in the open field. He’s a willing hitter who blocks well in the run game, sometimes pushing corners 20 yards downfield or out of bounds. He racked up insane numbers due to an impressive connection with classmate and QB Jake Schakel Jake Schakel 6’1″ | 195 lbs | QB Emerald Ridge | 2024 State WA whose name is also buzzing. Harste picked up his first pair of D1 offers in early April from Portland State and Idaho and continues to rise.
Schakel and fellow Junior Tony Harste Tony Harste 6’0″ | 170 lbs | WR Emerald Ridge | 2024 State WA formed a dynamic aerial duo for Emerald Ridge last year, both setting school records in the process and putting themselves on the national map. The pair are huge risers in the class, with the latter picking up his first D1 offers in April and Jake himself taking a recent Washington State visit. He’s already been offered by Florida Atlantic, Colorado State, Nevada and shown tons of interest by a dozen others. His cannon of an arm is obvious on tape, as he matches crips routes from his receivers with an effortless wind up and follow through that can sail the ball at least 40 yards with touch into a nice pocket to hit them in stride. He can identify open reads and zip it over the middle with confidence. Well-rounded athlete who can also tuck it and pick up ground yards and smart enough to slide. Schakel is an easy contender for the title of best QB in the state this year.
Lene is a fast and physical ILB with a strong motor who hits hard. He plays quick in the run game and gets after the QB with intensity, chasing him down from behind if need be. He’s extremely hard to block at the second level because he’s rarely caught with a higher center of gravity, and uses his hands, feet and balance to find his way back into the play regardless of the mess around him. His footwork and balance also give him good backward and lateral movement making him an effective passing-down presence in the middle of the field. Moved extremely well at 215 lb but broad shoulders suggest more physical potential to be gradually unlocked, as he’s now listed at 220 and could easily climb further. Lene is a ready-to-go MLB for a college next year.
