In the constant search for who the biggest and brightest stars of tomorrow are, PRZ Next stays with a constant eye towards the future of football. Here’s a look at seven class of 2027 prospects, from seven different states, that I’m high on today.
– A linebacker prospect to get really excited about coming out of Ellijay, GA, who will be at Gilmer High School in North Georgia this upcoming fall
– Athletically he checks every box for a 2027 linebacker. Stands 6-foot-1 and 190-pounds (unverified) with excellent speed and mobility
– More times than not, he’s the first hat to the ball. On top of strength and power (he’s already squatting 345 pounds) his closing speed is what got me fired up. His speed is such a strength right now, that on offense he gets the ball on end-around’s or plays to the boundary, and outruns the opposition’s tackling angles.
Highlights
– Alongside Douglas Callihan Douglas Callihan 6’0″ | 205 lbs | LB Gilmer County | 2027 GA , was a standout at the MVP camp this past weekend in Georgia, as a Linebacker
– Played his this past season at the Prince Avenue Christian School where he was a standout on defense but also in special teams as a long snapper
– Not sure where his ceiling is long term, but he works hard in the weight room. Already a member of the 700 pound club as an eighth grader, testing out with a 300+ pound squad, 200+ pound benchpress and 200+ pound clean
– Big, good-looking young offensive lineman that stands (unverified) at 6-foot-3 and 255-pounds right now. Carries his weight well on his frame for being young and big
– Generate a lot of power and force when he explodes out of his stance coming off the line. Naturally strong multi-sport athlete. Also plays basketball, in addition to becoming breaking school record in shot-put and discuss
– Lives about a half hour from the Alabama state line and will be at Bremen High School in the fall. Should be a contributor early to help the Blue Devils get back over the hump, after consecutive seasons with a 5-6 record
– Only needed to watch the first three runs on his eighth-grade film to figure out that I liked what I saw in him. Went on to watch the whole thing and liked what I saw out of him as a linebacker, too
– Violent runner who hits the hole hard after receiving the handoff and breaks a ton of tackles, gashing opposing defenses for big gains
– Stands at the latest standout to come from St. Paul’s Episcopal in Mobile, Alabama. A year ago, class of 2026 prospects Hayzen Shelton Hayzen Shelton 6’5″ | 285 lbs | OL AL and Anthony Jones Anthony Jones 6’4″ | 225 lbs | LB Saint Paul Episcopal | 2026 State AL (aka Tank) represented the Saints on the PRZ Next National Watchlist. Both have gone on to receive multiple P5 offers, with Jones quickly emerging as a candidate to be the top player in the state
Highlights
– The potential for Chance to be a special player is there with his size and ability. Already stands a verified 6-foot-5 and 223-pounds, in just the eighth grade
– Watching him play, he reminds me a lot of class of 2026 prospect Preston Carey Preston Carey 6’5″ | 280 lbs | DL Bradenton IMG Academy | 2026 State FL out of New York, who is currently ranked the No.1 overall prospect in the state. Albeit a bit leaner, Chance has the same overwhelming physical advantage that Carey has/had last year when he was named to the 2026 PRZ Next National Watchlist as an eighth-grader
– I don’t think he’s anywhere near reaching his potential at this point. He moves well for a big, younger kid and I can’t imagine what he’s going to look like after a year in a high school weight room. He’ll be at Lutheran North in the fall
– Is easily in the discussion as a top-5 prospect in Missouri for the class of 2027 at this point. He’ll be joining fellow 2027 prospect Eli Chance Eli Chance 6’5″ | 225 lbs | DL MO at Lutheran North, in the fall
– Phenomenal athletic talent that stands a verified 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds. At the recent Elite Talent Combine in St. Louis, he was clocked a verified 4.64 in the forty yard dash and a 4.82 in the pro agility drill. Both times were top 10 out of the entire event, regardless of class
– Comes from good athletic pedigree. His father (shares the same name) was an All-State player in high school before going on to become an All-Conference defensive end at Western Illinois in the early 2000’s
– Ehmen is another Alabama prospect that I’m excited to see hit the high school ranks next year, as he’ll be at Prattville High School in the fall. He’ll join young 2026 standouts Vodney Cleveland and Dorsett Jackson Dorsett Jackson 6’0″ | 160 lbs | DB Prattville | 2026 State AL . Both of whom made the 2026 PRZ Next National Watchlist last year as eighth graders and are currently ranked in the top 40 in the state for their calss
– Has spent his middle school career playing wide receiver, serving as a big mismatch with his size and ability to high point the football
– At a verified 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, I can see him becoming a recruitable tight end as he goes through high school. Right now does not have the speed or athletic ability to be an impact spread out wide. However, he has size, soft hands and can drunk a basketball. The potential is there, barring a position change and continued speed improvement
