Carsyn Baker – John Milledge
A breakout Middle Georgia back to shined week after week as a freshman last season, Baker is a physically gifted back at 6-foot-0 190-pounds with plenty of speed. Baker claims a 4.50 in the 40-yard dash and knows how to slash his way through defenses. He breaks tackles, runs with balance, and can really pound on a defense over and over. If you turn on the film, it’s hard to realize that he’s just a freshman. He runs hard, he’s tough, and again, brings plenty of speed to the offense. On just 71 carries last year as a freshman, Baker took off for 620 yards for an impressive 8.7 yards per carry, and impressive number for any back in Georgia, much less a freshman. If he continues to get bigger, stronger and faster this off-season, Baker is bound for a giant sophomore campaign in 2023. IF that happens, look for some serious D1 interest and possible offers to come his way.
Tamari Curry Tamari Curry 5'9" | 160 lbs | RB Washington-Wilkes | 2026 State GA – Washington-Wilkes
It’s never easy to carry the load as a freshman, but that’s exactly what Curry did last year for Washington-Wilkes. He may be on the smaller side, but Curry is a natural runner who is a dangerous threat in the open field. He’ll only get better and better as a back over the next several season, and that should scare plenty of defenses in the area. He has quick, balanced feet, good burst, and the ability to make defenders miss, leaving them reaching for air. He rushed for over 70 yards in six games last season, giving Washington-Wilkes a durable, dependable freshman who can carry the ball and make plays. His best game of the year came against a tough Aquinas team where he rushed just 14 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns. He had another impressive games against Warren County where he rushed for 139 yards and one more touchdown. Curry ended the season with 869 rushing yards on 155 carries with nine touchdowns. Look for him to have an even bigger sophomore season next fall.
Ty Cummings – West Laurens
In the small town of Dexter is where you’ll find a new breakout running back in Middle Georgia in sensational freshman, Ty Cummings. A big-play back who can take off on any particular play, Cummings has played better and better as the season moved long and will be a dynamic playmaker for West Laurens team that is coming off a tough 2022 season. With Cumming coming into his sophomore season next fall, look for West Laurens to take a step forward in 2023. An explosive runner with the ability to break tackles and fly by defenders, Cummings didn’t play like your typical freshman last year. He had some big games recently with rushing games of 225 yards, 136 yards, 135 yards, and 105 yards in four of his final five games of the season. He has 23.75 speed in the 200-meter and is an easy 2026 prospect to know and will be a name to keep an eye on in Middle Georgia moving forward.
