Continue ReadingLinemen play can be difficult to evaluate at the high school level. However, some prospects stick out more than others even when the camera’s angle prevents you from separating all five linemen throughout the snap. Below, I detail why these specific offensive line prospects will soon be receiving more than visit invitations.
Logan Westerling is a talented two-sport athlete who has the skills to play either guard or tackle at the next level. Logan has visited Washburn, Central Missouri, Northern Iowa, and South Dakota State University. With more junior day invites on the table, look for Logan to receive his first offer before his senior year begins.
Logan shows good power and leg drive down blocking at the point of attack. Good anchor and lateral quickness shows holding his ground and mirroring speed rushers in pass protection. Logan’s reactive athleticism and good football IQ shows picking up blitzers off the edge in pass protection.
Highlights
Max Gerken
Max Gerken
Max Gerken is a talented, good sized tackle for Park Hill South. Max has been invited to junior days at Augustana and South Dakota State University. I am looking forward to seeing Max’s recruitment build up as he enters his final year of high school.
Max displays good athleticism and flexibility changing direction at the second level to square linebackers up in the run game. Max shows next level power clearing the way at the point of attack in iso and power runs. Good length and a strong anchor get highlighted by a firm punch and good base that stops edge rushers in their tracks in pass protection.
Justin Cornett
Justin Cornett
Justin Cornett is a three-sport athlete for Rockwood Summit. Justin has taken visits to Lindenwood and the University of Central Missouri. He has also been invited to a junior day at the University of Upper Iowa; Look for Justin to be the target of more regional programs as the year goes on.
Justin shows good flexibility and football intelligence in the angles he takes to the second level. Next level power shows blowing defensive ends off of the ball at the point of attack. Justin’s strength shows in pass protection regaining his footing and dropping a solid anchor into place when he gets bull rushed.
Wyatt Evans
Wyatt Evans
Wyatt Evans is a talented interior offensive line prospect. He has been to junior days at Monmouth and Central Missouri. With over six more junior day and camp invites, look for Wyatt’s first offer to come soon.
Wyatt shows good flexibility and power dominating defensive linemen at the point of attack with good drive and leverage. Quickness and athleticism shows getting leverage on linebackers at the point of attack in zone stretch plays. You see Wyatt’s attitude and competitiveness in the run game by the way Mark Twain’s offense consistently relies on him to lead block as a tight end in an overload/tackle over formation. Wyatt’s speed and athleticism shows as a puller or quickly getting to second level landmarks.
Mason Dempsey
Mason Dempsey
Mason Dempsey has attended junior days at Washburn and Central Missouri. Mason is a reliable right tackle who projects to an interior position at the next level. With two more junior day invites and a camp invite to Western Illinois, look out for Mason to receive his first offer before summer gets here.
Mason’s next level strength shows creating space when down blocking at the point of attack. Quick feet and upper body strength shows redirecting fluidly in pass protection while sustaining rushers with his punch. Mason shows good balance and reactive athleticism breaking down at the second level and squaring linebackers up when vacating the line of scrimmage to lead block for middle screens.
Zane Coon Zane Coon 6’3″ | 295 lbs | OL Jackson | 2024 State MO holds five different offers ranging from division two schools to the MAC conference. Zane has also visited Western Illinois. Look for the experienced tackle to receive more regional offers and switch to an interior position at the next level.
Next level power shows when Zane removes defensive tackles from the point of attack. Zane’s anchor shows stoning power rushers in pass protection. Acceleration and speed shows getting to the point of attack in a hurry as a puller. The quickness and athleticism Zane shows when redirecting at the second level is ideal for his interior offensive lineman projection.
